Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for wavelength-dependent detection are provided. A detector includes a hybrid filter having unpatterned and patterned filter layers and at least one light-detecting sensor that detects light in first and second wavelength bands from the patterned filter layer of the hybrid filter. The unpatterned filter layer passes light in two nonoverlapping wavelength bands relative to light in wavelength bands between or among the nonoverlapping wavelength bands. The patterned filter layer includes first and second regions configured respectively to pass light in the first and second wavelength bands of the nonoverlapping wavelength bands passed by the unpatterned filter layer.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes a number of method, medium, and apparatus claims utilized for color sensor performance. One method includes determining performance of a color sensor, which can be performed by measuring a color parameter intensity and reflectance spectral power distribution of a particular type of print medium with a color sensing utility of a print apparatus. The method also can include detecting a magnitude of a difference between the measured color parameter intensity and reflectance spectral power distribution of the particular type of print medium and a predetermined intensity and reflectance spectral power distribution of the color parameter of the particular type of print medium, where the predetermined intensity and reflectance spectral power distribution is stored in memory.
Abstract:
A system, including an optical source configured to emit optical signals, and an optical receiver configured to receive optical signals; a housing having one or more optical windows; a user-detachable reflector attached to the housing, configured to enable emitted optical signals exiting an optical window to be reflected, so that the optical signals re-enter the housing via an optical window for reception by the optical receiver; and a calibrator configured to calibrate an output of the optical receiver using optical signals received by the optical receiver.

Abstract:
A desired color of illumination of a subject is achieved by determining settings for color inputs and applying those setting to one or more systems that generate and mix colors of light, so as to provide combined light of the desired character. In the examples of appropriate systems, an optical integrating cavity diffusely reflects light of three or more colors, and combined light emerging from an aperture of the cavity illuminates the subject. System settings for amounts of the different colors of the input lights are easily recorded for reuse or for transfer and use in other systems.
Abstract:
A device comprising an illumination means and a light sensing means, that can examine and memorize a discrete color of an object based on the magnitude of the reflected light bouncing off of the colored surface in at least three areas of the electromagnetic spectrum. The device also provides output as a visually and/or audibly perceptible signal for deciphering the color. The color range identified by the device is not limited to the visible spectrum and may include infra-red and ultra-violet light. A storage means for memorizing colors may also be included in the device. Applications of ColorStick technology may include children's toys, aids for the visually handicapped (e.g. blind or color blind individuals), designers, internet shoppers, gardeners, etc.
Abstract:
A spectrophotometric camera and method for measuring spectral energy in different wavelength bands at a plurality of locations are disclosed. The spectrophotometric camera comprises: a light source for sequentially producing light in different wavelength bands; an imaging device containing an array of sensors for detecting light at a plurality of locations; and a reference detector and an adjusting device for adjusting the light detected by the array of sensors. Spectral reflectance data from each of the plurality of locations on the surface of a target for each wavelength band in the plurality of light wavelength bands is measured. Spectral reflectance images are created, and features are extracted from the spectral reflectance images.
Abstract:
A biological observation apparatus comprises a color image signal creating section that performs signal processing on either a first image pickup signal for which a subject to be examined illuminated by white illumination light is picked up by a color filter having a transmitting characteristic of a plurality of broadband wavelengths or a second image pickup signal for which a subject to be examined is picked up under illumination of frame sequential illumination lights which cover a visible range, and creates a color image signal. The biological observation apparatus comprises a spectral image signal creating section that creates a spectral image signal corresponding to a narrowband image signal through signal processing on a color image signal based on the first or second image pickup signal. The biological observation apparatus comprises one of a characteristic changing/setting section for a display color converting section that performs conversion of display colors when causing the spectral image signal to be displayed or the like, an interface section for performing an instruction operation for switching and/or confirming information including an image to be displayed, or the like.
