Abstract: Solid supports and ligands are provided for purification of biomolecules by mixed-mode anion exchange-hydrophobic chromatography. Compositions can have the formula Support-(X)—N(R1, R2)-R3-L-Ar, or a salt thereof, wherein: Support is a chromatographic solid support; X is a spacer or absent; R1 and R2 are each selected from hydrogen and an alkyl comprising 1-6 carbons; R3 is an alkyl comprising 1-6 carbons or a cyclo alkyl comprising 1-6 carbons; L is NR4, O, or S; wherein R4 is hydrogen or an alkyl comprising 1-6 carbons; and Ar is an aryl. Methods are also provided for using solid supports and ligands to purify biomolecules such as monomeric antibodies.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to affinity chromatography devices that separate a targeted protein or antibody from an aqueous mixture containing the targeted protein or antibody. The chromatography device may contain a stacked membrane assembly or a wound membrane assembly. The membrane assemblies include at least one polymer membrane that contains therein inorganic particles. The polymer membrane and/or the inorganic particles have an affinity ligand bonded thereto. The affinity ligand may be a protein, an antibody, or a polysaccharide that reversibly binds to the targeted protein or antibody. The chromatography device may be repeatedly used and may be cleaned with a caustic solution between uses. The chromatography devices may have a dynamic binding capacity (DBC) of at least 30 mg/ml (or 0.07 micromol/ml) at 10% breakthrough at a residence time of 20 seconds or less.

Abstract: Organosilica materials, which are a polymer of at least one independent monomer of Formula [Z1OZ2OSiCH2]3 (I), wherein each Z1 and Z2 independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4 alkyl group or a bond to a silicon atom of another monomer and at least one other trivalent metal oxide monomer are provided herein. Abstract: By using a graft polymer comprising a dendritic polymer with a styrene skeleton and a hydrophilic polymer grafted to a terminal thereof, a temperature-responsive substrate for cell culture having a temperature-responsive surface for cell culture that allows cells to be cultured with high efficiency and which yet allows cultured cells to be exfoliated in a short period of time and with high efficiency by simply changing the temperature of the substrate surface can be prepared conveniently. If this temperature-responsive substrate for cell culture is used, cells obtained from a variety of tissues can be cultured with high efficiency. If this culture method is utilized, cultured cells can be exfoliated intact in a short amount of time with high efficiency. In addition, by using this graft polymer, a wide range of peptides and proteins can also be separated by simply changing the temperature of a chromatographic carrier. This allows for convenient separation procedure and improves the efficiency of separating operations. What is more, the stereoregularity of the dendritic polymer per se may be utilized to enable separation of solutes based on differences in their molecular structures.

Abstract: A catalyst system comprising a combination of: 1) one or more catalyst compounds having at least one nitrogen linkage and at least one oxygen linkage to a transition metal; 2) a support comprising an organosilica material, which is a mesoporous organosilica material; and 3) an optional activator. Useful catalysts include ONNO-type transition metal catalysts, ONYO-Type transition metal catalysts, and/or oxadiazole transition metal catalysts. The organosilica material is a polymer of at least one monomer of Formula [z′OZ2 SiCH2]3(l), where Z1 represents a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4alkyl group, or a bond to a silicon atom of another monomer and Z2 represents a hydroxyl group, a C1-C4alkoxy group, a C1-C6alkyl group, or an oxygen atom bonded to a silicon atom of another monomer. This invention further relates to processes to polymerize olefins comprising contacting one or more olefins with the above catalyst system.
