Abstract: A coupling pin anti-rotation arrangement is provided for a switchable roller finger follower within a valve train of an internal combustion engine. The coupling pin, located on one of the levers, has a first locking surface, and includes at least one coupling pin-side anti-rotation flat; the other lever, with a second locking surface, is configured with at least one lever-side anti-rotation flat. The at least one lever-side anti-rotation flat slidably guides the at least one coupling pin-side anti-rotation flat such that the first locking surface is aligned with the second locking surface throughout longitudinal displacement of the coupling pin within a coupling pin bore. The coupling pin anti-rotation arrangement is adaptable to various switchable roller finger follower designs that incorporate different valve lift strategies and lever configurations.

Abstract: A variable valve mechanism includes a first cam and a second cam, a main arm that drives a valve when swinging, a first sub arm that swings when pressed by the first cam, a second sub arm that swings when pressed by the second cam, and a switch device. The switch device includes a first switch pin that moves between a first coupled position between the main arm and the first sub arm and a first uncoupled position, and a second switch pin that moves between a second coupled position between the main arm and the second sub arm and a second uncoupled position. Both switch pins are arranged so as to be displaced from each other in positions where these switch pins do not overlap at least during a base circle phase in which base circles of both cams act.

Abstract: A switchable valve train assembly including a carrier housing defining a hydraulic circuit, a supply assembly, a plurality of rocker shafts, a plurality of separators, and a plurality of rocker arm assemblies is provided. Each one of the plurality of separators divides the rocker shafts into (1) a first chamber extending between a first chamber axial end and the separator, and (2) a second chamber extending between a second chamber axial end and the separator. The plurality of separators each include an orifice defined between the first chamber and the second chamber that provides fluid connection between the first chamber and the second chamber. Locking assemblies of the rocker arm assemblies are selectively actuated based on the supply assembly. The separators ensure that hydraulic fluid within the hydraulic fluid is de-aerated and that the second chambers remain primed with hydraulic fluid for faster actuation of the locking assemblies.

Abstract: A variable valve lift apparatus includes a lever body having a set length for a lever motion. One end of the lever body is connected with a hydraulic pressure supply portion and another end thereof is connected with the valve. A rotation shaft is disposed such that a width direction of the lever body is a length direction of the rotation shaft. A roller rotates around the rotation shaft. A high cam is disposed at the camshaft to rotate together with the camshaft and has a lobe shape for rolling-contact the roller to realize a high lift. A low cam is disposed at the camshaft to rotate together with the camshaft and has a lobe shape for rolling-contacting the roller to realize a low lift. The roller is disposed to slide along the length direction of the rotation shaft and selectively rolling-contact with the high cam or the low cam by sliding.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for deactivating a valve actuation mechanism. In one example, a system may include a hydraulic gallery that may deliver a restricted flow of hydraulic fluid from a hydraulic flow restrictor to a pressure relief valve within a valve deactivation oil control valve, and during a second condition may deliver an unrestricted flow of hydraulic fluid from the valve deactivation oil control valve to the hydraulic flow restrictor. The hydraulic flow restrictor may comprise two vertical bores within the camshaft carrier that are fluidically coupled via a restrictive groove on the bottom surface of the camshaft carrier.
