Abstract: A method of spatially and spectrally calibrating a spectrophotometer including: a) emitting a white light illumination output from a full width illumination source; b) illuminating a test patch with the white light illumination output; c) reflecting a portion of the white light illumination output from the test patch to form a white light reflected illumination output; d) receiving the white light reflected illumination output at first, second and third rows of photosensitive elements to form a first calibration data set; e) emitting a cyan light illumination output from the full width illumination source; f) illuminating the test patch with the cyan light illumination output; g) reflecting a portion of the cyan light illumination output from the test patch to form a cyan light reflected illumination output; and, h) receiving the cyan light reflected illumination output at the second and third rows of photosensitive elements to form a second calibration data set.

Abstract: Provided are gaze tracking apparatuses, which in some embodiments can include an optoelectronic device, wherein the optoelectronic device includes an image sensor with non-local readout circuit having a substrate and a plurality of pixels and operatively connected to a control unit, wherein a first area of the substrate is at least partially transparent to visible light and at least the plurality of pixels of the image sensor are arranged on the first area of the substrate to aim to an eye of a user when placed in front of an inner face of the substrate, and wherein the control unit is also adapted to control the image sensor to acquire image information from the user's eye for performing a gaze tracking of the user's eye.

Abstract: A device includes a first multi-element image sensor; a second multi-element image sensor; and a polarizing layer positioned between the first and second multi-element image sensors. A portion of light having a first polarization state incident on the device along a first direction is transmitted through the first image sensor, is transmitted through the polarizing layer, and is detected by the second image sensor, and light having a second polarization state orthogonal to the first polarization state incident on the device along the first direction is transmitted through the first image sensor, is blocked by the polarizing layer.

Abstract: A handheld spectrometer can be configured with a visible aiming beam to allow the user to determine the measured region of the object. When the visible aiming beam comprises the spectrometer measurement beam, the spectrometer measurement beam comprises sufficient energy for the user to see the measurement beam illuminating the object. When the visible aiming beam comprises a separate beam, the visible aiming beam comprises sufficient energy for the user to see a portion of the aiming beam reflected from the object. The visible aiming beam and measurement beam can be arranged to at least partially overlap on the sample, such that the user has an indication of the area of the sample being measured.

Abstract: A multi-spectral imager useful for weather mapping, comprising an array of filters on at least one focal plane array (FPA) including pixels. Each of the filters are associated with a different set of the pixels, and each of the filters transmit a portion of electromagnetic radiation, comprising a different band of wavelengths, to the set of the pixels associated with the filter. A circuit connected to the pixels reads out a signal outputted from each of a plurality of different pixels in the set and outputs the signals to an adder. The adder sums the signals from each of the plurality of different pixels in the set to form a sum used for generating a weather map.

Abstract: An optoelectronic module includes a light guide arranged to receive light, such as ambient light or light reflected by an object. The light guide has a diffractive grating that includes multiple sections, each of which is tuned to a respective wavelength or narrow band of wavelengths. The module further includes multiple photosensitive elements, each of which is arranged to receive light diffracted by a respective one of the sections of the diffractive grating. The module can be integrated, for example, as part of a spectrometer or other apparatus for optically determining characteristics of an object.

Abstract: An optical chemical test system and method detects information from areas of a chemical test component in the field of view of a color camera. The chemical test component can be a card or a strip and has a color change test area that changes in appearance when subjected to a target chemical in solution, which changes are detected by the color camera and used by an electronic control device to calculate a concentration value for the target chemical. Other areas of the chemical test component, when provided, calibrate the concentration value by providing further data that is recognized by the color camera and used by the electronic control device for calibration. The chemical test component can include features such as one or more indicia or locations for optical coding, card or strip identifiers and authenticators, one or more reference color areas and one or more reference white areas. Also, a color changing indicator can be provided for liquid temperature monitoring and determining whether or not a sample falls within an acceptable temperature range and/or for adjusting the displayed concentration to compensate for color shifts caused by variation in the fluid temperature. A housing system, when provided, facilitates use of controlled illumination in place of ambient illumination. The system and method are suitable for incorporation into a dishwashing machine for sanitation monitoring.
