Abstract:
The system provides for controlling color reproduction of input color image data in a network having nodes (or sites). The system distributes the input color image data from one of the nodes to other nodes, and provides data structures in the network. The system has means for providing color calibration data at each node characterizing output colors (colorants) of the rendering device of the node, and means for producing at each node, responsive to the color calibration data of the rendering device of the node, information for transforming the input color image data into output color image data at the rendering device of the node. The rendering device of each node renders a color reproduction responsive to the output color image data, wherein colors displayed in the reproduction at the rendering device of each node appear substantially the same within the output colors attainable by the rendering devices.
Abstract:
A device for determining the surface topology and associated color of a structure, such as a teeth segment, includes a scanner for providing depth data for points along a two-dimensional array substantially orthogonal to the depth direction, and an image acquisition means for providing color data for each of the points of the array, while the spatial disposition of the device with respect to the structure is maintained substantially unchanged. A processor combines the color data and depth data for each point in the array, thereby providing a three-dimensional color virtual model of the surface of the structure. A corresponding method for determining the surface topology and associate color of a structure is also provided.

This specification describes various embodiments that relate to methods for providing a wideband colorimeter that can include more accurate outputs. In one embodiment, a narrowband instrument, such as a spectrometer or spectrograph, can be used for calibration of a wideband colorimeter, so that more accurate outputs can be provided. In one embodiment, an optical test equipment, which consists of both a wideband colorimeter and a narrowband spectrograph, can be used for providing a more accurately calibrated wideband colorimeter. As an example, a spectra-camera, which is a hybrid system consisting of both a wideband colorimeter and a narrowband spectrograph, can be used for simultaneous testing by both the wideband colorimeter and the narrowband spectrograph. By doing simultaneous testing, accurate calibration of the wideband colorimeter can be achieved. This specification further describes a mathematical model to characterize a wideband three channel colorimeter with a narrowband multiple channel spectrometer.

A method for determining a paint formulation includes: obtaining target color information for a target color, identifying a plurality of toners and corresponding concentrations of the toners in a paint formula that can be used to produce a paint having a color that is similar to the target color, and modifying the paint formula by removing one of the identified toners having a lowest concentration to produce a modified paint formula that can be used to produce a paint having a color that is similar to the target color, and determining if the modified paint formula meets user specified acceptance criteria. An apparatus that can be used to perform the method is also described.

Abstract:
To improve a method for making an overprint prediction to that extent, that the method allows more reliable overprint predictions with a reduced effort, the invention proposes a method for making the overprint prediction for a color combination, in which method a printing substrate and at least two printing colors and one gradation of hue values per printing color including the full tone as well as color combinations are predefined as data of the hue value of the n printing colors, wherein first of all individual color predictions comprising three transmittance components and the associated transmittance spectra for the respective hue value are determined for each of the n printing colors, wherein for an intended color combination up to (3 to the power of n) combinations of the transmittance components and the associated combined transmittance spectra are determined, and an overall reflectance spectrum of an overprint is predicted on the basis of the determined transmittance components with their transmittance spectra and the reflectance spectrum of the unprinted substrate.

Methods, devices, and computer program products for robust estimation of color-dependent measurements are described herein. In one aspect, a method for generating a reference color grid that may be placed beside a color-dependent measuring device is disclosed. The reference color grid may contain a number of colors which enable a mapping from the color space of a testing device to a reference color space. This mapping may allow a function that is able to determine an estimate of a color-dependent measurement based on a color in the reference color space to be used. In another aspect, a method for robust estimation of color-dependent measurement using a reference color guide is disclosed.
