Abstract:
There is provided an electrostatic film formation device including a powder feeder feeding powder, a substrate on which a powder film is to be formed from the powder, and a DC power supply applying voltage to the powder feeder and the substrate. The DC power supply applies the voltage to draw the powder from the powder feeder to the substrate with electrostatic force. The electrostatic film formation device further includes a masking member disposed between the powder feeder and the substrate. The masking member is formed with a passing port allowing the powder to pass from the powder feeder to the substrate. The masking member is disposed in the state where the masking member is not in contact with the powder film to be formed.
Abstract:
An electrostatic oiling system for use with single blanks in batch systems having an open spray chamber without the need for a negative vacuum chamber. Further, the provided electrostatic oiling system may utilize induction beams and a charge wall that allows for utilization of a smaller vacuum system. Further, the provided electrostatic oiling system may provide variable blank coverage without the need for metered pumps.

Abstract:
The present inventions relate to the formation of a thin polymer film on a substrate. Apparatus is described for transforming a solid polymer resist into an aerosol of small particles, electrostatically charging and depositing the particles onto a substrate, and flowing the particles into a continuous layer. Apparatus is further described for transforming solid resist into an aerosol of small particles by heating the resist to form a low viscosity liquid such as is compatible with nebulization and applying the techniques of jet or impact nebulization and aerosol particle sizing to form the aerosol. A method is further described of using ionized gas to confer charge onto the aerosol particles and using a progression of charging devices establish an electric field directing the flow of charged particles to the substrate. The progression of charging devices and associated apparatus results in high collection efficiency for the aerosol particles.
Abstract:
A system for fluid transport is provided where a quantity of fluid is held in a reservoir. A droplet generator is employed to generate droplets from the fluid, for example a nozzle-based system or a nozzleless system such as an acoustic ejection system. A generated droplet has a trajectory whereby it arrives at a target. A circuit is used to modify one or more characteristics of the generated droplet in a way which increases the likelihood that the droplet will not splash or bounce when it arrives at the target. The circuit may in different embodiments control the speed of the droplet or the Weber number of the droplet. The circuit may create an electric field in an area of space where the droplet passes. The circuit may charge the droplet by causing it to contact ions.
Abstract:
An apparatus for electrostatically spraying a coating product. The apparatus includes a sprayer with first and second pipes which control the flow of the coating product. Air is controlled by at least one valve. The sprayer includes a device for controlling the opening/closing of the valve, a high voltage unit. A generator includes a module for controlling power supplied to the high voltage unit. The sprayer includes a first sensor suitable for detecting the position of a shutter of the valve relative to a seat and for outputting a signal used by the control module to control the power supplied to the high voltage unit, and a second sensor suitable for detecting the position of a switch positioned on the spray gun and for outputting a signal used by the control module to control the power supply of the high voltage unit.
Abstract:
An electrostatic spray drying system includes an electrostatic spray nozzle having a spray tip assembly arranged to discharge a supply of fluid into a drying chamber. The electrostatic spray nozzle is responsive to a duty cycle signal that determines periods at which the electrostatic spray nozzle is open to inject the fluid. A controller is programmed to activate a pulse width modulation (PWM) mode of operation for the electrostatic spray assembly, initiate a first timer, provide a first duty cycle signal to the electrostatic spray nozzle at a first PWM activation frequency while the first timer has not reached a first pulse duration, initiate a second timer when the first timer has reached the first pulse duration, and provide a second duty cycle signal to the electrostatic spray nozzle at a second PWM activation frequency while the second timer has not reached a second pulse duration.

Abstract:
A matrix film forming device including a first electrode plate including a mounting surface on which a sample plate P is mounted; a second electrode plate arranged facing said mounting surface; a nozzle which sprays a liquid containing a matrix substance by an electrospray process into the space between the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate and is arranged such that the first electrode plate and second electrode plate are not present over the central axis of the spray stream; and an electric field forming device which forms, between the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate, an electric field causes liquid drops containing charged matrix substance contained in the spray stream to move toward said mounting surface.
