Abstract:
An applicator for dispensing adhesive is disclosed. The applicator includes a manifold, at least one dispensing module coupled to the manifold, a supply channel configured to contain at least a portion of the adhesive, a recirculation channel configured to contain at least a portion of the adhesive, and a recirculation pump assembly connected to the manifold. The recirculation pump assembly includes an inlet in fluid communication with the recirculation channel, an outlet in fluid communication with the supply channel, a gear assembly, and a drive motor coupled to the gear assembly and operable to pump the adhesive, where the drive motor is configured to operate at an adjustable number of revolutions per minute (RPM). The recirculation pump assembly can be configured to move at least a portion of the adhesive from the recirculation channel to the supply channel, such that a first pressure of the adhesive in the recirculation channel is substantially equal to a second pressure of the adhesive in the supply channel.
Abstract:
A pump arrangement, in particular in a coating installation for the coating of components, such as a painting installation for the painting of motor vehicle body components, is provided. The pump arrangement includes a plurality of adjustable pumps for delivering a coating agent, e.g. for delivering a sealing agent for the sealing of weld seams on a motor vehicle body component. The pumps are connected in parallel such that the pumps extract the coating agent for delivery from a common inlet line and deliver said coating agent into a common outlet line. The arrangement further includes a control device for the open-loop or closed-loop control of one fluid variable at the outlet of the individual pumps, respectively, wherein the control device actuates the individual pumps individually, and/or a monitoring unit, which switches the pumps on and off non-simultaneously.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for applying a sealant to a structure. The method comprises scanning a surface of the structure with a vision system to form scanned data. The method further determines a sealant application path for the structure using the scanned data. The method also controls movement of an application tip along the sealant application path using a controller.
Abstract:
An adhesive dispensing system and method are configured to melt adhesive on demand and maintain the adhesive in a liquid state between dispensing cycles. The dispensing system includes a dispensing applicator with a manifold passage, a receiving device including a receiving chamber for holding a small amount of solid adhesive at the dispensing applicator and a first heating device for melting the adhesive on demand, and a second heating device at the manifold to maintain the temperature of the melted adhesive before dispensing. The receiving device is positioned adjacent to or partially nested within a manifold of the dispensing applicator such that the melted adhesive is delivered directly into the dispensing applicator. The second heating device applies heat energy to maintain the adhesive in the manifold passage as a liquid.
Abstract:
A hot melt adhesive dispensing unit includes an adhesive supply for receiving solid or semi-solid hot melt adhesive material, an adhesive supply heater associated with the adhesive supply for melting the solid or semi-solid hot melt adhesive material into a liquid hot melt adhesive material, a manifold connected to the adhesive supply and including a flow rate sensor for measuring a flow rate of the liquid hot melt adhesive material, the flow rate sensor generating flow rate information, a pump connected to the manifold for pumping liquid hot melt adhesive material from the adhesive supply into the manifold, the pump including a pump motor, and a variable frequency drive for controlling the pump motor. The variable frequency drive is in communication with the flow rate sensor for receiving the flow rate information and the pump motor for controlling the speed of the pump motor.
Abstract:
A pump system for pumping a fluid includes a motor housing, a motor, a rod, a positive displacement pump, a position sensor, and a controller. The motor is located within the motor housing. The rod is connected to and driven by the motor and the positive displacement pump for moving a fluid is driven by the rod. The position sensor produces a rod position signal that is a function of a position of the rod, and the controller produces a drive signal for driving the motor as a function of the rod position signal.
Abstract:
A system, in certain embodiments, includes a manifold including an air tube disposed about a water tube. The system also includes multiple nozzles coupled to the manifold, where each nozzle is coupled to the air tube and the water tube.
Abstract:
A method for operating a gluing system (10) for gluing blanks for producing and/or packaging cigarettes or other smokable objects, in which the blanks are conveyed along glue valves (11) of the gluing system (10), in which case, in order to control and/or regulate the glue valves (11), a superordinate master controller (13) respectively transmits values of at least one control and/or regulation parameter to individual controllers (15) which are assigned to the glue valves (11), are subordinate to the master controller (13) and are each connected to the superordinate master controller (13) via a suitable data connection, the subordinate controller (15) using said values to control and/or regulate the glue valve (11) assigned to it.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for depositing a fluid over an interface. A nozzle may comprise a body having a first end and a second end, an input located at the first end of the body, an output located at the second end of the body, and a plurality of channels located within the body. The input may be configured to receive a fluid. The plurality of channels may have a configuration that causes the fluid received through the input to flow through the plurality of channels and exit the output to form a deposition having a desired shape over an interface.
Abstract:
A device for measuring undulation of a brake disc in a railway wheel with brake discs includes a wheel support supporting a hub's bore of the railway wheel; a first displacement gauge for measuring a height displacement of the brake disc frictional surface for one round to follow rotation of the wheel support; and a second displacement gauge for measuring a height displacement of a railway wheel rim surface for one round to follow rotation of the wheel support. A computing unit calculates a difference between maximum and minimum values of the height displacement of the frictional surface by acquiring measurement data from the first displacement gauge, calculates a difference between the maximum and minimum values of the height displacement of the rim's surface by acquiring measurement data from the second displacement gauge, and derives a difference between the both calculated differences as brake disc undulation.
