Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided. The method for tinting soft contact lenses comprises the steps of mounting a contact lens to a fixture of the apparatus including an inlet and an outlet for directing predetermined fluids therethrough for engagement with predetermined surfaces of the contact lens to tint the lens; mounting the fixture to a carrier in a predetermined orientation; guiding the carrier along a predetermined path of travel; arranging a plurality of fluid application stations along the predetermined path of travel, each fluid application station including a fluid release member; and further moving the carrier as it moves along said path of travel in a direction for aligning the inlet of the fixture with each of the fluid release members, in sequence, for delivering a quantity of fluid to the inlet.
Abstract:
In apparatus for applying, by flood coating, a layer of a corrosion-inhibiting material to internal surface regions of cavities in a metal structure via passages communicating with the cavities, which apparatus includes at least one conduit having an outlet end arranged to communicate with one such passage for feeding corrosion-inhibiting material through that passage and into a cavity communicating therewith, the conduit is constituted in the region of its outlet end, by a main conduit portion extending upwardly at an angle to the vertical and arranged to convey material from a supply tank, and a pipe section which is open at both ends and is oriented with its longitudinal axis substantially vertical, the main conduit portion being connected to the pipe section at a point intermediate its ends for conveying material in an upward direction into the pipe section, the upper end of the pipe section constituting the outlet end of the conduit, and the lower end of the pipe section constituting a drain opening via which excess corrosion-inhibiting material can flow from the associated cavity into an underlying collecting trough.
Abstract:
A bead dusting apparatus for applying talc to a circular tire bead utilizing a housing with a guideway therethrough. An entrance ramp feeds beads seriation into the housing where a first pair of rollers support and rotate each bead through a tank containing talc. Each bead is then indexed into a second portion of the housing where a second pair of rollers supports and rotates the beads between opposed brushes to remove excess talc. The dusted beads are discharged by a bead indexing mean.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and compositions for the liquid-phase deposition (LPD) of thin films. The thin films can be coated onto the surface of porous components of electrochemical devices, such as battery electrodes. Embodiments of the present disclosure achieve a faster, safer, and more cost-effective means for forming uniform, conformal layers on non-planar microstructures than known methods. In one aspect, the methods and systems involve exposing the component to be coated to different liquid reagents in sequential processing steps, with optional intervening rinsing and drying steps. Processing may occur in a single reaction chamber or multiple reaction chambers.
Abstract:
A method for transferring objects onto a substrate, or running substrate, the objects to be transferred being placed in a transfer area containing a carrier liquid forming a conveyor, the objects being held by a compact film of particles floating on the carrier liquid of the transfer area, within which the objects are displaced with the film of particles to be transferred onto the substrate, making at least one connector on at least one of the objects, the connector being made by a substance comprising a polymerizable compound, put in contact with the object arranged within the transfer area, and then by polymerization of the substance.
Abstract:
Provided is a steel strip stabilizing apparatus which dampens vibrations of a plated steel strip in a non-contact manner or corrects the shape of the plated steel strip. The steel strip stabilizing apparatus comprises: a plurality of steel strip damping means arranged on at least one side of a steel strip undergoing processing in a direction there towards so as to damp vibrations in the steel strip; and a damping means moving unit connected to the steel strip damping means to move at least a portion of each of the steel strip damping means in a widthwise direction with regard to the steel strip corresponding to the width of the steel strip. According to the present invention, (unit) damping means are movable in the widthwise direction with regard to the steel strip, thus improving the vibration damping properties, the steel strip curvature correcting properties and the plated quality of the steel strip.
Abstract:
A disinfectant system for intracavity ultrasound probes in disclosed generally including a housing, a disinfectant chamber positioned in the housing and receiving at least one ultrasound probe, a container for containing a disinfectant solution fluidly coupled to the disinfectant chamber, at least one pump for supplying the disinfection solution from the container to the disinfection chamber and from the disinfection chamber to the container, and a controller for automated operation of the disinfectant system, wherein the disinfectant solution is a multi-use disinfectant solution. A method for disinfecting intracavity ultrasound probes is also disclosed generally including placing at least one ultrasound probe into a disinfectant chamber, supplying a disinfectant solution from a container to the disinfectant chamber via a pump, and returning the solution to the container via the pump, wherein the steps of supplying and returning the disinfectant solution are controlled by a controller.
