Abstract:
A device and method for removing moisture from ethanol blended fuel in a fuel tank comprises a container made of a non-woven nylon fabric, a desiccant, and a gelling agent; wherein the desiccant and gelling agent are inside the container.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process to manufacture advanced cellulosic gasolines. Dilute organic acids derived from pyrolized biomass are converted to their corresponding alcohols in a stand-alone hydrodeoxygenation unit followed by membrane pervaporation step to remove water. The alcohol product is blended directly into a neat hydrocarbon fuel basestock to make unadditized gasoline.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a fuel composition for colored flames and an appropriate combustion device for using such composition which provides a fuel composition for colored flames with improved inflammability, realization of colored flames and persistency by having alcohol of low ignition point as a fuel, by adding a compound having an ester structure and by adding a fire power enhancer including at least 3 higher hydrocarbon. Also, the present invention provides a combustion device wherein the fuel composition is injected in fog so as to enhance ignition power when rendering colored flames by injecting through an injection nozzle and igniting, the size of flames can be controlled by adjusting pressure, and color of the flames injected through each injection nozzle portion can be realized in different colors respectively by a control device.
Abstract:
A fuel additive concentrate comprises a friction modifier selected from the group consisting of an alkoxylated fatty amine, a fatty acid or derivative thereof, and mixture thereof; an alcohol; and a compatibilizer selected from the group consisting of a low molecular weight carboxylic acid or anhydride or derivative there of, glycol ether, alkylated phenol, and a mixtures thereof wherein the fuel additive concentrate remains fluid at −80 C or lower wherein the solvent has enough aromatic content to permit the fuel additive concentrate to be a fluid at minus 80 C. A fuel composition comprises fuel and the fuel additive concentrate. A method of operating a gasoline internal combustion engine comprises fueling the engine with the fuel composition and is effective in reducing fuel consumption.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a fuel composition comprising a fuel and a film-forming additive wherein the fuel comprises diesel and a fuel alcohol and wherein the film-forming additive is present in the fuel composition in an amount of less than 0.1 wt %.
Abstract:
A method and composition for identifying chemically tagged petroleum products can be achieved by adding one or more chemicals to a selected petroleum product wherein the chemical is immune to extraction from the petroleum product by conventional inexpensive absorbents, cannot be removed by extraction with acids, bases, or immiscible solvents, cannot be easily oxidized, reduced or reacted with common agents, is difficult to disguise by masking with other agents, has a low polarity, and has a boiling point in the range of the petroleum product the chemical is being added to. The presence of the chemical is determined by using ion mobility spectroscopy.
Abstract:
A method for imparting anti-static characteristics to fuel is provided, the method comprising supplying a hydrocarbon fuel and mixing the fuel with an ion, contained in an inorganic compound, to reduce the electrical resistance of the fuel.
Abstract:
Hydrocarbonaceous fuels and additive compositions therefor which comprise: a) one or more fuel-soluble manganese carbonyl compounds; and b) one or more fuel-soluble alkali or alkaline earth metal-containing neutral or basic detergent salts. These compositions preferably contain, in addition to components a) and b) above, one or more of the following: c) one or more fuel-soluble ashless dispersants; d) at least one fuel-soluble demulsifying agent; e) at least one aliphatic or cycloaliphatic amine; and f) at least one metal deactivator. The compositions possess improved combustion characteristics (e.g., formation of less soot, smoke, carbonaceous products and/or noxious emissions), and form on combustion carbonaceous products of reduced acidity. The deposition of sludge on critical engine or burner parts or surfaces is reduced and the fuels have improved stability and demulsibility characteristics. And the fuel compositions can result in decreased fuel consumption in diesel engines.
Abstract:
Distillate fuel compositions containing an amine salt of a sulfonic acid and a low volatility carrier fluid are effective in reducing the formation of intake valve deposits in internal combustion engines. Gasoline containing diamine salts in combination with a polyol ester carrier fluid is a particularly preferred distillate fuel composition.
Abstract:
