Abstract:
The pressurized gas is supplied by two sleeves separated by a sprayer device forming a funnel. The narrow end of the funnel has a spraying head with, in the plane of symmetry (P) of the device, at least one slot through which the liquid flows. The pressurized gas passes through a series of openings provided on either side of the slot. A liquid supply tube is arranged parallel in relation to the wide end of the funnel and has openings through which the liquid flows directly or indirectly into the funnel and passes through the slot without any appreciable pressure.
Abstract:
Apparatus for coating glass by pyrolysis of a powder at the glass surface to form a coating on that surface, and in which a flow of a suspension of a powder in a carrier gas is applied to a moving hot glass surface across the width of that surface, comprising means for supporting and advancing hot glass beneath an applicator comprising a chamber terminating in a slot extending across the supporting means close to the path of the glass surface to be coated, which chamber diverges downwardly from a central inlet for the downward flow of the suspension of the powder.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are described for coating a substrate such as glass with a powder such as a compound that an be decomposed by heat. The method comprises the steps of forming a sheet of powder suspended in a gas and moving toward the substrate to be coated, homogenizing the mixture of powder and gas by creating turbulences in it, surrounding the sheet with flowing gas having the same velocity as the sheet itself, and accelerating the sheet in the direction of the substrate. This method and the apparatus which implements it are particularly useful in the manufacture of glass coated with a film such as metal oxide.
Abstract:
A high voltage charge at very low amperage is impressed on a bath of oil or other lubricant in a dielectric header through a submerged electrode. A grounded high speed moving metal strip attracts streams of the charged bath across its width through apertures or slots provided in the header. Pressurized gas jets directed at these streams disperse the streams into a multitude of finer crossing streams which coat the strip completely and evenly. A recovery system for the oil or other lubricant is provided.

Abstract:
This invention relates to a method of simultaneously coating both sides of a moving strip with a solution, said strip having a pass line above the bath of said solution, comprising the steps of lifting a column of said solution out of said bath, said column being wider than said strip and higher than the pass line of said strip, passing said strip through said column of solution, and controlling the speed of said strip and the height and width of said column relative to the width of said strip and height of the strip pass line whereby both sides of said strip are coated simultaneously. The strip can be a galvanized strip treated with a chromate conversion coating or can be a tin plate treated with palm oil.
Abstract:
An annular discharge device for discharging a gluing composition onto glass fibres includes at least one distribution circuit for the gluing composition and a plurality of spray nozzles fluidically connected with the distribution circuit and distributed over the perimeter of the annular discharge device for discharging the gluing composition onto the glass fibres intended to pass into the annular discharge device defined by an axis of revolution, each spray nozzle being oriented towards the interior of the annular discharge device with an angle of inclination determined in relation to the plane of revolution of the annular discharge device. At least two spray nozzles arranged consecutively on the perimeter of the annular discharge device are disposed so as to have an orientation with respect to the plane of revolution of the annular discharge device each with a different angle of inclination with respect to one another.
Abstract:
A portable dispensing system for dispensing a solution of a fluid and a solid product includes a fluid line, a dispenser, and a cartridge. The fluid line includes a first and second fluid line ends and a fluid source connection at the first fluid line end. The dispenser is at the second fluid line end. The dispenser includes a body and a fluid outlet. The cartridge houses the solid product and includes a fluid inlet and a solution outlet. The cartridge is removably connected at the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet of the dispenser. The cartridge is configured to receive fluid from the fluid outlet of the dispenser such that fluid contacts the solid product housed in the cartridge and dissolves at least a portion of the solid product forming the solution. The cartridge is also configured to output the solution at the solution outlet.
Abstract:
A device is described for protecting a sensor window. The device includes a two-piece nozzle system and is configured for generating a first and a second fluid flow, a first piece of the two-piece nozzle system being fixedly situated with respect to the sensor window, and a second piece of the two-piece nozzle system being configured for assuming different positions with respect to the first piece of the two-piece nozzle system, and the two-piece nozzle system being aligned with respect to the sensor window to direct a predominant portion of the first fluid flow in parallel to the sensor window and to direct a predominant portion of the second fluid flow in the direction onto the sensor window.
