Abstract:
This invented multiple-phase dynamic cushion comprises a frame, at least a driving source, at least a transmission assembly, and clusters of plural strips interleaved in parallel. Taking a two-phase embodiment as an example, the two-phase strips interleave with each other, in parallel, to form the cushion's surface and alternate their tensions in turn; when one phase's strips periodically tighten to support the user's body, the other phase's strips will loosen, allowing the user's body covered by the loosened strips to take a rest, averting a pressure-ulcer risk. The driving source is energized by an altering energy, making the two strip groups alternate in loosening and tightening states periodically in turn. This invention can be converted into a portable dynamic chair when the four holes on the bottom of its four corners are inserted with legs; it can also be converted into a dynamic support for a lying human body.

Abstract:
An orthopedic stretcher allows for alternately applying flexion and extension forces to a patient's leg. The orthopedic stretcher includes a base with a first leg pivotally connected thereto. A second leg support for engaging the patient's lower leg is linked to the first leg support. A means for applying an extension force moves the first leg support and the second leg support further apart to extend the patient's leg. Similarly, a means for applying a flexion force moves the first leg support and the second leg support closer together to bend the patient's leg.
Abstract:
An exoskeleton mechanism according to the present disclosure includes: a fixed frame positioned to correspond to an upper physique; a rotatable frame positioned to correspond to a lower physique and coupled to the fixed frame by a hinge unit to be rotatable in the vertical direction; a support frame for supporting a terminal; a first motor mounted to the fixed frame and connected to the rotatable frame to drive the rotatable frame to rotate in the vertical direction; motors mounted to the rotatable frame and connected to the support frame to drive the support frame to rotate in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction and rotate around an axis (roll axis) of the lower physique; links for connecting the first motor and the rotatable frame; and links for connecting the motors and the support frame.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for muscle stimulation with at least one motor and with two motor-operated drives, wherein each of these drives comprises a frame and a stepping plate mounted in the frame. Each of these drives is a revolving linkage square. The driven drive member is in each case a crank mounted in the frame. Moreover, a crank and a stepping plate are in each case connected in an articulated manner by means of a coupling member. With the present invention, an apparatus for muscle stimulation is developed that can be operated both with low and also with high stroke frequencies.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel implementation of a low cost eccentric mass motor vibrotactile transducer providing a point-like vibrational stimulus to the body of a user in response to an electrical input. Preferably the eccentric mass and motor form part of the transducer actuator moving mass. The actuator moving mass is constrained into vertical motion by a spring between the actuator housing and moving mass. The actuator moving mass is in contact with a skin (body) load. The actuator housing is in simultaneous contact with the body load. The body load, actuator moving mass, spring compliance and housing mass make up a moving mass resonant system. The spring compliance and system component masses can be chosen to maximize the actuator displacement and/or tailor the transducer response to a desired level. The mass of the motor/contactor assembly, mass and area of the housing, and the compliance of the spring are chosen so that the electromechanical resonance of the motional masses, when loaded by the typical mechanical impedance of the skin, are in a frequency band where the human body is most sensitive to vibrational stimuli 150-300 Hz. This configuration can be implemented as a low mass wearable vibrotactile transducer or as a transducer that is mounted within a soft material such as a seat. A particular advantage of this configuration is that the moving mass motion can be made almost independent of force loading on the transducer housing.
Abstract:
Portable devices and methods for preventing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) by assuring that the ankle is flexed and extended sufficiently to promote blood flow in the lower leg are disclosed. The device includes an actuator with a free movement mode that allows a patient to move freely between activations or to initiate movement to delay a next automatic activation.
Abstract:
A portable, foldable, and multifunctional mobility aid apparatus that assists a user in standing, sitting, and/or walking process. The apparatus has an integrated power source and is based on 4 wheels. Users can stand on it and drive it as an electric mobility device, or disable it and use it as a passive walker. The apparatus has a pair of supporting beams with adjustable width to be placed under the user armpits and support the user in standing up, sitting down, and/or moving around. The apparatus can be controlled by a control panel mounted on a pair of handles, and its functions can be controlled by the user with no need for help from another person. The apparatus can be minimized by a combination of multiple telescopic vertical minimization mechanisms and multiple folding mechanisms.
