Abstract: The present invention provides a water-based coating and/or coating system that can be used to form sag resistant wet layers or coatings on a wide range of substrates. The coating system is particularly effective for protecting metal-containing substrates, such as intermodal cargo containers, against corrosion. As an overview, the present invention provides water-based compositions suitable to form primer coats on substrates. Desirably, the primer incorporates a high level of one or more CAS agents for excellent sag resistance while drying in a broad range of relative humidity environments. Alternatively, modifications can be made to control temperature and humidity during spray application and drying as a way to increase sag resistance of the coating.

Abstract: A method of modifying a coating material includes applying a fluid including a population of particles to a wet coating material disposed on a substrate. The method also includes drying the wet coating material so as to give rise to a coated article, where the particles are at least partially embedded in a surface of the dried coating material. The particles can be metallic nanowires, and a loading of the metallic nanowires in the dried coating material can be above an electric percolation threshold.

Abstract: A method of modifying a sample surface layer in the vacuum chamber of a particle-optical apparatus, the method performed in vacuum, the method comprising: Providing the microscopic sample attached to a manipulator, Providing a first liquid at a first (controlled) temperature, Dipping the sample in the first liquid, thereby causing a sample surface modification, Removing the sample from the first liquid, Providing a second liquid at a second (controlled) temperature, Dipping the sample in the second liquid, and Removing the sample from the second liquid. This enables the wet processing of a sample in-situ, thereby enhancing speed and/or avoiding subsequent alteration/contamination of the sample, such as oxidation, etc. The method is particularly useful for etching a lamella after machining the lamella with a (gallium) FIB to remove the surface layer where gallium implantation occurred, or where the crystal lattice is disturbed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for treating metal pipe couplings, including a frame and insulated panels attached to the frame forming an oven. A pre-heat zone and a bake zone inside the oven, the pre-heat zone separated from the bake zone by a shared oven wall. A combustion burner and recirculation blower are positioned in opposite ends of the oven in a pre-heat zone combustion/recirculation chamber. Another burner and recirculation blower pair are positioned in opposite ends of the oven in a bake zone combustion/recirculation chamber. Heated air supply plenums are fluidly connected to respective recirculation blowers, and include direction-adjustable nozzles to direct heated air generally downward onto pipe couplings moving through the preheat and bake zones. Return air plenums positioned in each of the pre-heat and bake zones each have an air inlet, and an outlet fluidly connected to respective combustion/recirculation chambers. Abstract: Hybrid pre-patterns were prepared for directed self-assembly of a given block copolymer capable of forming a lamellar domain pattern. The hybrid pre-patterns have top surfaces comprising independent elevated surfaces interspersed with adjacent recessed surfaces. The elevated surfaces are neutral wetting to the domains formed by self-assembly. Material below the elevated surfaces has greater etch-resistance than material below the recessed surfaces in a given etch process. Following other dimensional constraints of the hybrid pre-pattern described herein, a layer of the given block copolymer was formed on the hybrid pre-pattern. Self-assembly of the layer produced a lamellar domain pattern comprising self-aligned, unidirectional, perpendicularly oriented lamellae over the elevated surfaces, and parallel and/or perpendicularly oriented lamellae over recessed surfaces. The domain patterns displayed long range order along the major axis of the pre-pattern. The lamellar domain patterns are useful in forming transfer patterns comprising two-dimensional customized features.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for forming an oxide film by which normal formation of an oxide film is always achieved without receiving an influence of a change in the atmosphere, a metal oxide film having a low resistance can be formed, and a high efficiency of film formation is obtained. In the present invention, a raw material solution containing an alkyl compound is formed into a mist and ejected to a substrate (100) in the atmosphere. Additionally, an oxidizing agent that exerts an oxidizing effect on the alkyl compound is supplied to the mist of the raw material solution. Through the above-described processes, an oxide film is formed on the substrate in the present invention.
