Abstract:
A roofing material including a substrate having a top face and a bottom face. The roofing material further includes a non-asphalt coating applied to the substrate and an asphalt layer covering at least a portion of the top face. The bottom face is asphalt-free, or substantially asphalt-free.
Abstract:
A coating composition includes a first polymer and a second polymer that are incompatible and non-reactive with one another. The absolute value of the difference between the refractive index of the first polymer and the refractive index of the second polymer is about 0 to about 0.01. The first polymer and the second polymer are soluble in a carrier liquid that is a good solvent for the first polymer and a poor solvent for the second polymer. The carrier liquid is removed from the coating layer to spinodally decompose the mixture of the first polymer and the second polymer in an amount sufficient to form a substantially continuous first phase with a predominant amount of the first polymer and a substantially discontinuous second phase with a predominant amount the second polymer. At least 70% of the second phase includes droplets with an aspect ratio, when viewed in the plane of the surface of the substrate, of less than about 3.
Abstract:

Coating apparatus including a spray to provide a coating, a controller to control the spray to vary a spraying width of the spray, and a first roller to receive the coating and to smear the coating on a substrate.
Abstract:
A device for applying a liquid coating material to a portion of a fastening element projecting from a surface of a first component fastened to a second component by the fastening element. A bristle arrangement comprising a carrier structure defining an interior space and a first opening. The carrier structure comprises an annular portion extending from the first opening and extending around an entire circumference of the interior space. The bristle arrangement comprises bristles secured to the carrier structure and extending from the carrier structure into the interior space. A casing comprises an interior chamber, a second opening wherein objects are insertable from outside the casing through the openings into the interior space, and at least one through-hole providing access to the plurality of bristles and allowing introduction of a liquid coating material into the interior chamber and to the bristles. A method is disclosed for applying liquid coating material.
Abstract:
Compositions, applications, coatings, processes of making and applying compositions and compositions for preventing dust buildup on plastic and wood surfaces such as on ceiling fan blades, portable fan blades, stand fan blades, window blinds, appliances, furniture, cabinet knobs, and drawer pulls. The compositions and coating prevent dust buildup by (1) dissipating static charges on the blades and (2) creating a very smooth blade surface that prevents dust particles getting “captured”. The coating can have a clear matte finish and contains an anti-static and high lubricity additive to deter the accumulation of dust. After applying the coating the dry time of the coatings by thin coat gravure rollers is approximately four minutes. When applied the coating can result in up to approximately 50% less dust buildup over a one week period of time.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an aqueous coating agent including a vinyl polymer (A) having a basic nitrogen atom-containing group and a carboxylic group, a quaternary ammonium salt (B), and an aqueous medium (C). Particularly, the present invention provides an aqueous coating agent including a compound represented by General Formula (1) below as the quaternary ammonium salt (B). The aqueous coating agent has excellent adhesiveness, warm water resistance, corrosion resistance, and chemical resistance, and can form a film that is capable of preventing the deterioration of various substrates. In General Formula (1), R1 to R4 each independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or an aryl group.
Abstract:
An object with a coating comprising: a) covalent bonds formed by reaction of a thiol group and a carbon-carbon double bond, b) covalent bonds formed by reaction of a thiol group and epoxide group, c) covalent bonds formed by a reaction of a carbon-carbon double bond and an epoxide group, said coating comprising a first primer coating and a second coating, said coating comprising covalent bonds between said first and second coatings, said first primer coating comprising covalent cross links between compounds, in the first coating the fraction (r3=ta/tc) of unreacted thiol groups (ta) to thiol groups which have reacted to form a covalent bond (tc) does not exceed 0.11, wherein the half height peak width of tan delta does not exceed 30° C. Advantages of the dual cure composition is that excellent strength is obtained and that the second curing is slow compared to the first initial curing.
Abstract:
Reactive compositions are provided, having biocidal and chemical decontamination/neutralization properties, comprising a hygroscopic polymer and an active, which are useful in a variety of commercial, healthcare and military applications and a wide variety of contaminants, including without limitation chemical and biological warfare agents. The reactive compositions are renewable or rechargeable after use by exposure to an additional application of the active and do not require removal, disposal or replacement of the originally applied composition. Methods for preparing and applying the reactive compositions are disclosed.
