Abstract: Methods are provided for producing lubricant base stocks from deasphalted oils formed by sequential deasphalting. The deasphalted oil can be exposed a first deasphalting process using a first solvent that can provide a lower severity of deasphalting and a second deasphalting process using a second solvent that can provide a higher severity of deasphalting. This can result in formation of at least a deasphalted oil and a resin fraction. The resin fraction can represent a fraction that traditionally would have been included as part of a deasphalter rock fraction.

Abstract: A system and process for selectively separating H2S from a gas mixture which also comprises CO2 is disclosed. A water recycle stream is fed to the absorber in order to create a higher concentration absorbent above the recycle feed and having a greater H2S selectivity at lower acid gas loadings, and a more dilute absorbent below the recycle feed and having a greater H2S selectivity at higher acid gas loadings. Also disclosed is a system and process for selectively separating H2S by utilizing two different absorbents, one absorbent for the upper section of the absorber, tailored to have a greater H2S selectivity at lower acid gas loadings, and a second absorbent for the lower section of the absorber, tailored to have a greater H2S selectivity at higher acid gas loadings.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for hydroconversion of a heavy oil feed under slurry hydroprocessing conditions and/or solvent assisted hydroprocessing conditions. The systems and methods for slurry hydroconversion can include the use of a configuration that can allow for improved separation of catalyst particles from the slurry hydroprocessing effluent. In addition to allowing for improved catalyst recycle, an amount of fines in the slurry hydroconversion effluent can be reduced or minimized. This can facilitate further processing or handling of any “pitch” generated during the slurry hydroconversion. The systems and methods for solvent assisted hydroprocessing can include processing of a heavy oil feed in conjunction with a high solvency dispersive power crude.

Abstract: Methods of preparing organosilica materials, which are a polymer comprising of at least one independent cyclic polyurea monomer of Formula wherein each R1 is a Z1OZ2Z3SiZ4 group, wherein each Z1 represents a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4 alkyl group, or a bond to a silicon atom of another monomer unit; each Z2 and Z3 independently represent a hydroxyl group, a C1-C4 alkyl group, a C1-C4 alkoxy group or an oxygen atom bonded to a silicon atom of another monomer unit; and each Z4 represents a C1-C8 alkylene group bonded to a nitrogen atom of the cyclic polyurea are provided herein. Methods of preparing and processes of using the organosilica materials, e.g., for gas separation, color removal, etc., are also provided herein.

Abstract: Provided are processes for making hydrocarbons from renewable feed sources. In an embodiment, there is provided a method for producing a lube basestock including: contacting a compound of Formula (I) and a feedstock of biological origin with a catalyst component including a basic material: wherein R1 is selected from acyclic hydrocarbyl, cyclic hydrocarbyl, and aryl, wherein R1 has one or more optional substitutions selected from the group consisting of —Ra, —ORa, —C(O)Ra, and —C(O)ORa, wherein Ra is H or C1-C6 alkyl group; and n is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5; and hydrogenating a ketone to a hydrocarbon with a catalyst including a hydrogenation catalyst and a hydrothermally stable binder.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides mesoporous catalyst compounds and compositions having one or more group 13 atoms. In one aspect, a catalyst compound includes a zeolite having a structural type selected from MFI, MSE, MTW, Theta-One (TON), Ferrierite (FER), AFI, AFS, ATO, BEA, BEC, BOG, BPH, CAN, CON, EMT, EON, EZT, FAU, GME, GON, IFR, ISV, ITN, IWR, IWW, LTL, MAZ, MEI, MOR, MOZ, OFF, OKO, OSI, SAF, SAO, SEW, SFE, SFO, SSF, SSY, and USI, or a combination thereof, the zeolite having a silicon to aluminum molar ratio (Si/Al ratio) of from about 5 to about 40. In one aspect, a catalyst composition includes the catalyst compound and one or more group 13 metal.
