Abstract: A robust and general method is provided to synthesize noble metal-based amorphous-crystalline heterophase nanoparticles, each having an amorphous noble metal core and a crystalline semiconductor/metal shell or a Janus structure with an amorphous noble metal domain and a crystalline metal domain attached side by side with the amorphous noble metal domain (i.e., snowman-like structure). The as-synthesized heterophase nanoparticles not only exhibit superior activities in diverse catalytic reactions but also show unexpected high stability, which could be used as ideal templates for the seeded growth of other nanostructures, thus show tremendous potential in different applications including electrocatalysis and photocatalysis. With efficiently separated photo-induced electron and photo-induced holes, superior catalytic performance of amorphous nanomaterials, efficient solar energy conversion ability of crystalline semiconductors, as well as the synergistic effect between them, the controlled construction of amorphous noble metal-crystalline semiconductor heterostructures can be a promising route to development of high-performance catalysts towards photocatalytic reactions.

Abstract: The present invention combines the advantages of fabrication of semiconductor heterostructure (Ag3PO4—WO3) with plasmonic metals (Pt and Ag) with optical interference to optimize the visible light photo response of plasmonic metals deposited semiconductor (Pt—Ag/Ag3PO4—WO3) for visible light assisted H2 generation utilizing the aqueous bio-alcohols. Crystalline Ag3PO4 and WO3 nanofibers were synthesized by microwave and electrospinning methods. Three different WO3 nanofibers composition (5, 10 and 15 wt. %) were used to obtain Ag3PO4/WO3 nanocomposite heterostructures, which are effective visible light active photo catalysts. Further, a simple, enviro-friendly, and cost-effective biogenic synthesis method have been achieved using Salvia officinalis extract to decorate Pt and Ag metal nanoparticles on the surface of Ag3PO4—WO3 composites. Presence of bioactive agents in the extract are responsible for the Pt and Ag3PO4 reduction and for prevention of the Pt nanoparticles from aggregation in aqueous medium.

Abstract: A calcium silicate based nickel catalyst and a preparation method and application thereof are provided. The method includes: leaching a silicon based solid waste with an alkali agent to obtain a silicate leaching solution; adding the silicate leaching solution and a nitrate solution corresponding to a lanthanum metal dropwise to a calcium hydroxide suspension for a first precipitation reaction, and subjecting a precipitate produced by the reaction to filtration, drying and calcination to obtain a modified calcium silicate support; and dispersing the modified calcium silicate support in an anhydrous alcohol solvent to obtain a mixed suspension, adding an alcohol solution of a nickel salt dropwise to the mixed suspension for a second precipitation reaction, conducting heating and stirring until alcohols in the anhydrous alcohol solvent and the alcohol solution of a nickel salt are volatilized, and conducting drying and calcination to obtain the modified calcium silicate based nickel catalyst.
