Abstract: 본 발명은 엔진 워터재킷의 격벽 구조물에 관한 것으로, 워터재킷의 내부 공간을 상부채널과 중간채널 및 하부채널로 구획하는 상부격벽(10)과 하부격벽(20) 및; 상기 상부격벽(10)과 하부격벽(20)의 전방단부와 후방단부를 연결하여 상기 중간채널의 유동을 정체시키는 차단벽(30,40);을 포함하여 이루어진다.
따라서, 중간채널의 냉각수 유동이 정체되어 라이너의 중간부는 온도가 높고 냉각수 유동이 원활한 상/하부는 온도가 낮은 온도 분포가 형성된다.
이는 피스톤 마찰 손실 감소에 최적의 조건으로서 연비가 향상되는 효과가 있다.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A cooling device for an internal combustion engine and an insert for a water jacket are provided to improve cooling efficiency of the internal combustion engine by enhancing the flow of cooling water in the siamese portion of a cylinder block. CONSTITUTION: An insert for a water jacket comprises two wing parts of triangular shape and a connection part which connects the two wing parts symmetrically. Each wing part is bent in an arc shape identical to the lower shape of the water jacket(3). The water jack is formed in a siamese portion between cylinder bores of a cylinder block(2), surrounding a cylinder of the cylinder block. The insert is inserted to the lower part of the water jacket to enhance the flow of cooling water in the upper part of the water jacket.
