Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polymer capable of exhibiting the excellent ratio of modulus of elasticity/impact strength and high transparency, useful for a film, a fiber, etc., by mixing a specific isotactic propene copolymer with a prescribed propene (co)polymer in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: This propene polymer comprises (A) 50-99.9 wt.% of an isotactic propene copolymer and (B) 0.1-50 wt.% of a propene (co)polymer in which the component A is composed of propene, ethene and a 1-42C olefin (M), >=80 wt.% of the whole propene 2 unit chains is isotactic meso 2 unit chains (L), relations of equation I [X3 is the ratio of a dissolved substance in xylene at 20 deg.C; Tm is a melting point ( deg.C)] and equation II (E is a modulus of elasticity) are satisfied, the component B is composed of propene and arbitrarily ethene or the monomer M, >=55 wt.% of the whole regio-regular propene 2 unit chains is the chains L, a melt enthalpy measured by DSC is

Abstract: Catalyst systems for the polymerisation of 2-12C alk-1-enes contain (a) an inorganic support (I), (b) metallocene complex(es) (II), (c) compound(s) (III) forming metallocenium ions, and optionally (d) organometallic compound(s) (IV) of alkali(ne earth) and/or group IIIB metal(s). (I) is an inorganic oxide with a pH of 1-6, which has pores and channels, the macroscopic volume fraction of which comprises 5-30% of the total particle. Also claimed are (i) preparation of alk-1-ene polymers using the catalyst systems; and (ii) the polymers per se. Polymerisation of 2-12C alk-1-enes, especially propylene or ethylene, is carried out at -50-300 deg C and 0.5-3000 bar, preferably in liquid monomers or in the gas phase. Prepolymerisation in suspension or in liquid monomers may be carried out first.

Abstract: Racemic metallocene complexes (I) are prepared from bridged transition metal phenolate complexes (II) and alkali metal or alkaline earth metal cyclopentadienyl derivatives. Some (I) are new. Preparation of racemic metallocene complexes (I) involves reaction of bridged transition metal phenolate complexes of formula (II) with alkali metal or alkaline earth metal (preferably magnesium) cyclopentadienyl derivatives and optionally subsequently substituting the bridged phenolate ligands. M = Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Group III transition metal or lanthanoid; X = halo, H, alkyl, Ar, alkylaryl, OR10 or NR10R11; n = 1-4, i.e. the valency of M minus 2; R1,R8 = halo, 1-20C alkyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl (optionally substituted by alkyl), alkylaryl, arylalkyl or Si(R9)3; R9 = 1-20C alkyl, cycloalkyl or Ar; R2-R8 = H; or as R1 with the exception of halo; R2-R7 = adjacent groups optionally forming 4-15 C saturated, partially saturated or unsaturated cyclic group; residues in R1-R9 = optionally, partially or completely substituted by heteroatoms; R10,R11 = alkyl, Ar, alkylaryl, arylalkyl, fluoroalkyl or fluoroaryl; Y,Y1 = Q, Q-Q, Q-Q', Q', O-Q, Q'-Q', BR12, AlR12, Ge, Sn, O, S, SO, SO2, NR12, CO, PR12 or P(O)R12; Q = M1(R12)2; Q' = C(R12)2; R12 = H, halo, alkyl, fluoroalkyl, 6-10 C fluoroaryl, 6-10 C aryl, alkoxy, 2-10 C alkenyl, 7-40 C arylalkyl, 8-40 C arylalkenyl or 7-40 C alkylaryl; or two R12 groups together complete a ring; M1 = Si, Ge or Sn; m = 0-3; Ar = 6-15 C aryl. Abstract: A catalyst systems for the polymerisation of 2-12C alk-1-enes comprises: (A) an inorganic oxide carrier with a pH of 1-6 which comprises 5-30 vol.% voids and channels; (B) at least one metallocene complex; (C) at least one metallocenium ion-forming compound; and optionally (D) at least one alkali(ne earth) or Group III metal organic compound. Also claimed are (i) the preparation of 2-12C alk-1-ene polymers at -50 to +300 deg.C and 0.5-3000 bar using these catalyst systems, (ii) 2-12C alk-1-ene polymers prepared by this method, (iii) the use of these polymers for the preparation of fibres, films or moulded articles and (iv) fibres, films or moulded articles made from these polymers.
