Abstract: The invention relates to thermoplastic moulding materials containing a mixture of (A) between 30 and 69 wt. %, in relation to the sum of the constituents (A), (B) and (C), of a methylmethacrylate polymer, (B) between 30 and 69 wt. %, in relation to the sum of the constituents (A), (B) and (C), of a copolymer that can be obtained by the polymerisation of a vinylaromatic monomer and a vinylcyanide, and (C) between 1 and 40 wt. %, in relation to the sum of the constituents (A), (B) and (C), of a graft copolymer that can be obtained from (C1) between 60 and 90 wt. %, in relation to (C), of a core, (C2) between 5 and 20 wt. %, in relation to (C), of a first graft envelope consisting of a vinylaromatic monomer, an alkylmethacrylate and optionally a cross-linking monomer, and (C3) between 5 and 20 wt. %, in relation to (C), of a second graft envelope consisting of an alkyl(meth)acrylate polymer, on the proviso that the quantitative ratio of (C2) to (C3) is between 2:1 and 1:2. The invention is characterised in that the average particle size D50 of the core (C1) is between 50 and 250 nm, the average particle size D90 of the core (C1) is between 60 and 1000 nm, the average particle size D90 of the core (C1) being larger than the average particle size D50 of the core (C1), by a factor between 1.15 and 20, and the core (C1) can be obtained by the polymerisation of a monomer mixture comprising (C11) between 65 and 89 wt. %, in relation to (C1), of a 1,3-diene, (C12) between 10 and 34.9 wt. %, in relation to (C1), of a vinylaromatic monomer, and (C13) between 0.1 and 5 wt. %, in relation to (C1), of an agglomeration polymer. The invention also relates to a method for producing said moulding masses, to the use thereof, and to the moulded bodies obtained therefrom.

Abstract: A process for preparing a solution of high molecular weight polymers of conjugated dienes in a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon by anionic polymerization of the diene in the presence of an alkyllithium as catalyst and a process for preparing impact-modified polymers of vinylaromatic compounds is described. The first process comprises firstly polymerizing the diene in solution in an aromatic hydrocarbon which is free of ethylenic double bonds to a molecular weight below about 105, then adding a trialkylaluminum in a molar excess relative to the alkyllithium, diluting the solution obtained with the vinylaromatic compound and then coupling the polydiene with a polyepoxide or an alkyl (meth)acrylate to give a high molecular weight polymer. The solution obtained in this way is further processed to give an impact-modified polymer of a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon by polymerizing the solution prepared as described, if desired after addition of further amounts of a vinylaromatic compound, in a manner known per se.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for the production of a solution of high molecular polymers of conjugated dienes in a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon by anionic polymerisation of said diene in the presence of an alkyl lithium catalyst. The invention also relates to a method for the production of resistant polymers of vinyl aromatic compounds. The process consists of initially polymerizing the diene in an aromatic solution consisting of a hydrocarbon which is devoid of any ethylene double bonds, until a molar mass of less than 10 is obtained. Thereafter, trialkyl aluminium with a higher molar mass than the alkyl lithium is added. The solution thus obtained is then diluted with a vinyl aromatic compound; thereafter, the polydiene is coupled to a polyepoxide or an alkyl(meth)acrylate to form a higher molecular polymer. The resulting solution is further treated to form a resistant polymer of a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon, whereby the solution produced according to the above-mentioned process is polymerised in a known manner per se, optionally after further amounts of a vinyl aromatic compound are added.
