    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of formaldehyde by gas phase oxidation of methanol vapour with a gas flow containing a molecular oxygen in the presence of solid bed catalyst containing iron and molybdenum. The invention is characterised in that the method is carried out in a reacto r (1) comprising thermal sheet metal plates (2) which are arranged at a distan ce from each other and in the longitudinal direction of the reactor (1), said thermal sheet metal plates being cross-flown by a heat carrier. The reactor also comprises devices for supplying and withdrawing (3, 4) the heat carrier to/from the thermal sheet steel plates (2), and gaps (5), which are disposed between the thermal sheet steel metal plates (2) and which are filled with t he solid bed catalyst and are introduced into the gas flow containing the methanol vapour and the molecular oxygen.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing chlorine by catalytic gas-phase oxidation of hydrogen chloride, which comprises the steps: a) providing a feed gas stream I comprising hydrogen chloride and a feed gas stream II comprising oxygen; b) in a first oxidation stage, feeding the feed gas stream I, the feed gas stream II, if desired a recycle stream la comprising hydrogen chloride and if desired an oxygen-containing recycle stream IIa into a first oxidation zone and bringing them into contact with a first oxidation catalyst so that a first partial amount of the hydrogen chloride is oxidized to chlorine and a gas stream III comprising chlorine, unreacted oxygen, unreacted hydrogen chloride and water vapor is obtained; c) in a second oxidation stage, feeding the gas stream III into a second oxidation zone and bringing it into contact with at least one further oxidation catalyst so that a second partial amount of the hydrogen chloride is oxidized to chlorine and a product gas stream IV comprising chlorine, unreacted oxygen, unreacted hydrogen chloride and water vapor is obtained; d) isolating chloride, if desired the recycle stream Ia and if desired the recycle stream IIa from the product gas stream IV, wherein the first oxidization catalyst in the first oxidation zone is present in a fluidized bed and the further oxidation catalyst or catalysts in the second oxidation zone is/are present in a fixed bed.

    Abstract: Se divulga un metodo para la produccion de cloro por medio de oxidacion en fase gaseosa de cloruro de hidrogeno con un flujo de gas que contiene oxigeno molecular en presencia de un catalizador de cama fija. Dicho metodo se lleva a cabo en un reactor (1) que comprende un conjunto de tubos de contacto (2) colocados paralelos entre ellos en la direccion longitudinal del reactor y sujetados en fondos de tubos (3) en sus extremos, una campana (4) colocada en ambos extremos del reactor (1), y una o varias laminas metalicas de desviacion (6) colocadas perpendicularmente a la direccion longitudinal del reactor en el espacio intermedio (5) entre los tubos de contacto (2) y liberan alternadamente los pasajes opuestos (7) ubicados en la pared interna del reactor (1). Los tubos de contacto (2) se llenan de catalizador de cama fija, el cloruro de hidrogeno y el flujo de gas que contiene oxigeno molecular dirigidos desde un extremo del reactor a traves de los tubos de contacto (2) a traves de una campana (4) y son retirados del extremo opuesto del reactor a traves de la segunda campana (4), y una sustancia liquida de intercambio de calor es dirigida a traves del espacio intermedio (5) alrededor de los tubos de contacto (2).
