Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair-treatment composition, etc., having high hair-setting performance and easily rinsable from the hair by using a polyaspartic acid derivative produce by reacting a polyaspartic acid with a specific amine mixture. SOLUTION: A water-soluble and/or water-dispersible polyaspartic acid derivative or its carboxylic acid salt and polycarboxylic acid salt or quaternarized product based on the unit of the formula (x+y1 +y2 +z=100; (x) is 30-100; (y1 ) is 0-70: (y2 ) is 0-50; (z) is 0-30; A is a primary or secondary non-aromatic amine; B is an amine having t-amino group; C is a group derived from the amine A by the elimination of the amine hydrogen) are used for cosmetic use, especially for the treatment of hair. The compounds of the formula wherein (x) is 30-99.9, (y1 ) is 0.1-50 and (y2 ) is 5-50 are new compounds. The compound of the formula can be produced by reacting a polyaspartic acid or a polysuccinimide with the amine A and the amine B.

Abstract: Water-soluble or -dispersible graft polymers (I) and their salts are claimed. The polymers are from a water-soluble or -dispersible polyurethane prepolymer (A) with terminal NCO groups, and a protein (B) with free amino groups. Also claimed are (1) a process for preparing (I) by reacting (A) with (B); and (2) a hair-treatment agent containing (I), especially in the form of a hair spray. Pref. (I) is produced from (a) a compound with at least 2 active H atoms, (b) a compound with at least 2 active H atoms and at least 1 acid, tertiary amine or ionogenic or ionic group, and (c) a diisocyanate. The equivalent ratio (NCO):(active H) = >1:1 to 1.2:1. (b) is preferably a carboxylate and/or sulphonate group or a group containing nitrogen, especially dimethylolpropanoic acid. (a) contains a polyester diol and/or a silicone. (B) is casein or its hydrolysate.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for making microstructures having structure depths ranging from several mu m up to the mm range by imagewise irradiation of polymers with X-rays and removal of the imagewise irradiated regions of the polymers. Before the imagewise irradiation, the polymers are applied in layer thicknesses ranging from several mu m up to the mm range by melting under pressure onto an electrically conductive substrate and firmly anchored. The process according to the invention is suitable, in particular, for making microstructures having structure depths of between 3 mu m and 2000 mu m and lateral dimensions of less than 10 mu m.

Abstract: Polymers (I), used in hair styling agents, are prepd. by radical-initiated copolymerisation of: (A) 5-50 wt.% (quat.) 1-vinyl imidazole; (B) 20-80 wt.% N-vinyl caprolactam; (C) 10-60 wt.% N-vinyl pyrrolidone; and (D) 0-30 wt.% additional radical copolymerisable monomer which forms a homopolymer with a Tg > 20 degrees C, with the proviso that the polymer is quaternised if (A) is 1-vinyl imidazole. Cosmetic hair and skin formulations contg. (I) as active ingredients are also claimed. Pref. (A) is 3-methyl-1-vinyl imidazolinium chloride or -methyl sulphate, or 3-ethyl-1-vinyl imidazolinium methyl sulphate. (D) is tert.-butyl acrylate. (I) is prepd. by copolymerisation of a mixt. comprising 10-30 wt.% 1-vinyl imidazole quaternised with di(m)ethyl sulphate as component (A), 40-60 wt.% (B), and 30-50 wt.% (C).
