    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain cubic plate magnetic powder having a uniform particle diameter ratio, by incorporating a ferric salt with tartaric acid and an alkali compound at a specific molar ratio, heat-treating the resultant aqueous slurry and reducing the resultant plate hematite in a hydrogen gas stream. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous slurry, consisting of three components of a ferric salt, tartaric acid (salt) and an alkali compound at >=8.2pH and satisfying conditions expressed by the formula is prepared. In the formula, r is the molar ratio of the tartaric acid (salt) to iron ions. The resultant slurry is then heated to >=120 deg.C to give plate hematite, which is further reduced in a hydrogen gas steam and, as desired, reoxidized and treated with a cobalt salt. The magnetic powder obtained by the method has 0.01-1mum particle diameter of the median value, 0.67-1.50 particle diameter ratio at the first quartile point and the third quartile point and 0.5-2.0 particle diameter ratio at the 1/10 fraction point to 9/10 fraction point in a cumulative distribution curve of plate surface area. The plate form ratio is >=2, and the powder has improved magnetic characteristics as a magnetic recording medium.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a pigment having excellent coloring power and free from the problems such as carcinogenicity and miscibility with vehicles, etc., by using an ion-exchanging clay powder as the base, immersing the clay in an aqueous solution of a polyvalent metallic salt to effect the ion exchange, contacting with a liquid organic compound, and heating at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:The powder of an ion-exchanging clay (preferably having a cation exchange capacity of 80-500mg-eq/100g of clay, and having particle diameter of 0.2-500mu) is immersed in an aqueous solution of a polyvalent metallic salt (e.g. sulfate, chloride, etc. of Fe, Cr, V, etc. preferably having a concentration of 0.01-2mol/1) to effect the ion exchange reaction. The product is made to contact with a liquid organic compound (preferably a compound having a melting point of =20 deg.C, e.g. n-heptane). The treated clay powder is heated at 350-700 deg.C for e.g. 10min-3hr in a muffle furnace to obtain the objective pigment.

CONSTITUTION:(B) An aqueous solution of an alkali metallic salt of silicic acid having a molar ratio of SiO2/Na2O of 1.0-4.0 and H2O/Na2O of 12-200 is added to (A) an aqueous solution of an alkali metallic salt of aluminic acid such as an aqueous solution of low alkali sodium aluminate, etc., having a molar ratio of Na2O/Al2O3 of 1.1-1.7 and H2O/Na2O of 6.5-500 at 15-60 deg.C while stirring vigorously. Then the prepared white precipitate slurry is heat- treated at 70-100 deg.C and kept for >=10min to give amorphous aluminosilicate having >=260ml/100g oil absorption amount and >=100mg CaCO3/dry 1g ion exchange ability.

Produced sodium percarbonte is separated, and to 75W92pts.wt. as pure component of the separated caky sodium percarbonate is added 25W8pts.wt. aqueous hydrogen peroxide soln. having 1.5W10wt% concn. By granulating the mixture of tableting or other pressurizing method, the titled sodium percarbonate is obtd.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an alumina carrier having such excellent properties that it can adsorb an org. dye to allow the dye to be enclosed therein, its pores can be sealed and it absorbs less visible light, by treating an aq. suspension of porous intermediate alumina with an acid and drying or firing it. CONSTITUTION:An aq. dispersion of porous intermediate alumina is treated with an acid at a pH of 2-6.5 under an equilibrium condition and the treated alumina is dried and/or fired to obtain the desired alumina carrier which is porous alumina which has a specific surface area of 10m /g or above and a particle size of 0.03-100mu, whose 2.4wt% aq. dispersion has a pH of 3.0-6.5 and at least part of which is converted into hydrated alumina when treated with water at 70-250 deg.C. Alternatively, the alumina carrier can be prepd. in such a manner (i) that hydrated alumina or porous intermediate alumina is mixed with an ammonium salt powder or is brought into contact with an ammonium salt soln. and the mixture is fired, or (ii) that hydrated alumina or porous intermediate alumina is fired in a hydrogen chloride atmosphere.

    CONSTITUTION: A supersaturated aqueous solution of sodium aluminate having a concentration of 30W70wt% is charged into a strong stirring mixer while keeping the temperature in the mixer at 50W90°C. A supersaturated aqueous solution of sodium silicate having a concentration of 35W50wt% is charged to the mixer in 15W60min under vigorous agitation, and the agitation is continued after the addition for 10W60min.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled product having improved mechanical strength and high dissolving rate in water, by reacting and crystallizing Na2CO3 with H2O2 in the presence of a specific stabilizer, mixing a carbonate, etc. with the resultant cake containing a suitable mother liquor, and granulating the resultant mixture. CONSTITUTION:Na2CO3 is reacted with H2O2 in the presence of a silicate, Mg salt an alkali metallic salt or triethanolamine salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), and the reaction product is crystallized. A cake consisting of 75- 92pts.wt. Na2CO3 and 25-8pts.wt. mother liquor is separated, and a carbonate or polysaccharide or a derivative thereof is mixed therewith, and the resultant mixture is granulated. The three components of the stabilizers are essential, and the absence of the Mg salt deteriorates the moisture resistance. The absence of the silicate deteriorates the thermal stability and mechanical strength. The salt of EDTA interacts with the salts to further improve the product stability. The absence of the salt of the EDTA does not provide a sufficient resistance to heat and moisture. The granulating additive is effective only when added to the cake.
