Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain powder for a water and oil repellent cosmetic, blended in a cosmetic and capable of preventing makeup disorder due to the sebum, etc., improving the extensibility of the cosmetic on the skin and imparting good touch to the skin. CONSTITUTION:The objective powder for a water and oil repellent cosmetic is obtained by treating the surface of an N-mono-long-chain acyl basic amino acid having one 8-22C fatty acid acyl group in the molecule, e.g. Nalpha- lauroyllysine, Nalpha-2-ethylhexanoylornithine or Nalpha-palmitoylarginine with a fluorine compound, e.g. a phosphoric acid ester having a perfluoroalkyl group, tetrafluoroethylene resin or a perfluoroalkyl alcohol. The fluorine compound is used in an amount of preferably 0.01-30 pts.wt., especially 0.5-15 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. N-mono-long-chain acyl basic amino acid. This powder for the cosmetic is blended in an amount of preferably 0.1-99wt.%, especially 1-50wt.% in the cosmetic.

CONSTITUTION:A substd. phthalic acid monoester of formula I [wherein R is methyl or ethyl; Z is OH, a 1-24C straight-chain or branched aliph. hydrocarbon residue, a 1-24C alkoxy, a polyoxyalkylene (2C or 3C) oxide; and m is 0-3] is condensed with a substd. acetophenone of formula II (wherein Y is Z; and n is 0-3) in the presence of a basic catalyst, thereby obtaining a compd. of formula III. The compd. (III) is esterified, thereby obtaining a dibenzoylmethane derive. (A) of formula IV [wherein X is H, a metal cation, an org. cation, a 1-24C straight-chain or branched aliph. hydrocarbon residue, or a polyoxyalkylene (2C or 3C) oxide]. Component (A) is mixed with a polyvalent metal oxide (e.g., ZnO) having a particle size up to 100mum in a wt. ratio of 1:0.01-100 in water and/or a lower alcohol.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce fine lamellar hematite powder having uniform particle diameters, by heating an aqueous slurry composition which comprises a ferric salt, tartaric acid or its salt and an alkali compound and has a composition to satisfy a specific pH condition, at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:Aqueous slurry comprising a ferric salt such as FeCl3, etc., tartaric acid and/or its salt and a third component of an alkali compound such as NaOH, etc., is processed into a composition to satisfy a condition shown by formulas pH>=8.2 and (pH-6.6)/600 =120 deg.C and treated for about 10hr. By this treatment, lamellar hematite powder consisting of lamellar particles having an ogive wherein particle diameter of median is 0.01-1mum, particle diameter ratio of first quartile point to third quartile point is 0.67-1.50, particle diameter ratio of 1/10 point to 9/10 point is 0.-2.0 and lamellar ratio is >=2 is obtained.

CONSTITUTION:Pigment obtained by reacting a water-insoluble or slightly water- soluble polyvalent metallic salt of an alkyl phosphate such as an alkyl phosphate of formula I (R1 is 1-45C hydrocarbon group; X1 and X2 are H, alkali metal or amine) or formula II (R2 and R3 are 1-45C hydrocarbon group; X3 is H, alkali metal or amine) with a metallic salt of the formula MmYn (M is metal except alkali metal ; Y is organic or inorganic anion; (m) and (n) are integer corresponding to valence of Y and M) is subjected to surface treatment with a fluorine compound, preferably a perfluoroalkyl group-containing compound to give pigment for a water-repellent and oil-repellent cosmetic. 100 pts.wt. polyvalent metallic salt of an alkyl phosphate is mixed with preferably 0.1-30 pts.wt., especially 0.5-15 pts.wt. fluorine compound. By using the pigment, a cosmetic having excellent water resistance, sebum resistance and oil resistance, good make-up durability, superior slip on the skin, excellent touch in use, especially smoothness is obtained.

In the formula I, R is straight or branched chain 7-21C alkyl, etc., M is a multivalent metal atom, x is a number of 1-11, m is the valence of M and n is a number of 1-4. In the formula II, R is straight or branched chain 7-21C alkyl, etc., R is H, etc., M is a multivalent metal atom, Y is ethylene, etc., p is the valence of M and q is 1-4.

CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic contains a cosmetic powder consisting of an organic derivative of zirconium phosphate such as a compound of formula II ((x) is 0.2-1.8; (y) is 0-10) (having an average particle diameter of about 1-50mum) obtained e.g. by contacting an alkylphosphoric acid ester of formula I (R is 1-45C saturated or unsaturated straight or branched chain hydrocarbon group; M and M are H or cationic group) with a laminar zirconium phosphate in a proper solvent. The amount of the zirconium phosphate organic derivative compounded to the cosmetic is preferably 1-99wt.%, especially 5-90wt.%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic for preventing ultraviolet light rays, having hydrophobic nature stable with time free from change in quality of oil, containing powder prepared by coating TiO2 fine particles with a mixture comprising silicate hydrate and alumina hydrate and further the surface of the coated fine particles with silicone oil. CONSTITUTION:Titanium oxide having 30-70nm average particle diameters is dispersed into water to give 5-40wt.% dispersion, which is blended with 1-4wt.% calculated as SiO2 of aqueous solution of sodium silicate and then with 6-12wt.% calculated as Al2O3 of aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate to deposit a coating substance comprising silicate hydrate and alumina hydrate or a compounded substance thereof on the TiO2 fine particles. The fine particles are further coated with a silicone oil to give powder, which is added to a cosmetic base to give a cosmetic. The powder provides a cosmetic having excellent ultraviolet light screening effects by prevention of change in quality of silicone coating film and an oil for cosmetic and further improvement in dispersing function.
