    Abstract: Dispersion contains cellulose ether or size dye, and (a) 20-55 wt.% finely dispersed pigment, (b) 5-25 wt.% water sol. surface actant (mixt) obtd. by allowing (i) an amine of formula H2N-(R-N(R1)n-H (where R is 2-6C satd. alkylene R1 is H, 1-6C alkyl, cyclohexyl or phenyl; and n is 1-5; also when n = 1, NHR1 may be bonded to other amino radicals), (ii) an aromatic or alicyclic diamine or (iii) a hydroxyl cpd. of formula A(OH)m (where A is aliphatic or alicyclic 2-10C residue of valency m is 2-6) to react with propylene oxide in an amt. of 3-50 mols/1 equiv. of OH radical or reactive amino radical hydrogen and allowing the reaction prod. to react with ethylene oxids in an amt. of 2-70 mols/l. equiv. of OH radical or reactive amino radical hydrogen, (c) 40-75 wt.% water.

    Abstract: Highly concentrated, dust-free, solid and readily dispersible pigment formulations contain (a) from 70 to 95% by weight of one or more finely divided pigments, (b) from 5 to 30% by weight of one or more surfactants which possess 20-45% by weight of ethylene oxide units, have a mean molecular weight of from 4,000 to 15,000 and are obtained by reacting an amine of the formula where R is C2-C6-alkylene, R1 is H or C1-C4-alkyl and n is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, or R is 1,3-phenylene, 1,4-phenylene or 4,4'-diphenylenemethane, R1 is H and n is 1, with propylene oxide and then reacting the product with ethylene oxide, and (c) from 0 to 5% by weight of waxes and/or antifoams, with or without (d) other agents conventionally used in pigment formulations, the percentages being based on (a+b+c). The formulations are very useful for pigmenting aqueous, alcoholic or aqueous/alcoholic printing inks and surface coatings, and printing pastes for textiles.
