    Abstract: Continuous distillative separation of piperazine from ethylenediamine-piperazine mixture comprises subjecting the piperazine mixture into a cyclic motion, introducing the piperazine mixture into an evaporator unit at 160-170[deg]C, recycling the piperazine mixture into a distillation column and removing the piperazine from the sump of the distillation column after a retention time of approximately 30-60 minutes, where the ethylene diamine is discharged at the upper portion of the distillation column.

    Abstract: Purification of triethylene diamine (TEDA) comprises crystallization and extraction of the resulting mother liquor with an extraction agent that is at most only slightly miscible with the solvent of the mother liquor but in which TEDA is soluble. Following extraction, the treated mother liquor with reduced TEDA content and/or the extraction agent enriched in TEDA is recycled to the process. A process for the purification of triethylene diamine (TEDA) by evaporation and feeding the TEDA vapor to a liquid solvent followed by crystallization is characterized in that following crystallization of the TEDA the resulting mother liquor is extracted with an extraction agent that is at most only slightly miscible with the solvent of the mother liquor but in which TEDA is soluble. Following extraction, the treated mother liquor with reduced TEDA content and/or the extraction agent enriched in TEDA is recycled to the process.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing triethylenediamine by converting piperazine on a zeolite catalyst, which in addition to SiO2 contains an oxide of at least one additional bivalent, trivalent or tetravalent metal M. Said catalyst is characterised in that the zeolite has a molar ratio Si/M of > 100. The invention uses in particular a zeolite of the type ZSM-5. By using the zeolite, the adverse formation of the by-product 2-ethylpiperazine can be suppressed, whilst obtaining high piperazine conversion rates and low amounts of excess water, thus significantly simplifying preparation.
