Abstract: Latent hardening aqueous polyurethane dispersions contain (1) a disperse phase (P.1) containing (1a) a polyurethane (PUR.1a) containing groups (G-1) imparting dispersibility in water and groups (G-2) with a carbon-carbon (C-C) double bond activated by a carbonyl group bound directly to this or (1b) a mixture of a polyurethane (PUR.1b) containing G-1 groups but not G-2 groups and a compound (I) containing G-2 groups, other than PUR.1a and PUR.1b; and (2) a compound (II) which contains an average of NOTLESS 2 hydrogen (H) atoms as amino function, has a water solubility > 1 g/l (25 degrees C) and has a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 200-1000000. Also claimed are wood, metal, textile, leather or plastics articles bonded, impregnated or coated with the dispersions.

Abstract: Plastic materials with a melt flow index 230/2.16 of 0.1-100 g/10 minutes contain: (a1) propylene homopolymer with a melt flow index 230/2.16 of 0.1-100 g/10 minutes, or(a2) statistical copolymer of propylene and 2-10C alkene-1 with a comonomer content of less than 15 wt.%, or (a3) a mixt. of 25-97 wt.% of a copolymer of propylene and 0.1-15 wt.% 2-10C alkene-1 and 3-75 wt.% of another propylene copolymer contg. 15-80 wt.% 2-10C alkene-1 units, or(a4) a mixt. of 25-97 wt.% propylene homopolymer and 3-75 wt.% propylene/2-10C alkene-1 copolymer, with a comonomer content of 15-80 wt.% w.r.t. the second polymer, (b) a propylene or ethylene polymer grafted with 0.1-5 wt.% alpha , beta -unsatd. carboxylic acid or acid deriv., with a melt flow index 230/2.16 of 0.01-400 g/10 minutes, and (c) a nitrogen cpd. of formula (I): R =H, 1-30C alkyl, 2-30C alkyl or alk-1-enyl substd. with O atom(s) and/or amino gps., or a gp. of formula (II):HO-(CHR -CHR )m- (II)R =H, 1-4C alkyl or amino; andm=1-100. Date Jul. 7, 1994There are described water-soluble condensation products of amino-containing compounds and crosslinkers, obtainable by reacting (a) polyalkylenepolyamines, polyamidoamines, ethylene-imine-grafted polyamidoamines, polyetheramines and mixtures thereof, with (b) monethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, salts, esters, amides or nitriles of monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, chlorocarboxylic acids and/or glycidyl compounds such as glycidic acid, glycidamide or glycidyl esters, and (c) at least bifunctional crosslinkers having a halo-hydrin, glycidyl, aziridine or isocyanate unit or a halogen atom as functional group, to form water-soluble condensation products having a viscosity of at least 100 mPas in a 20% strength by weight aqueous solution at 20 DEG C., processes for preparing the water-soluble condensation products by reacting the abovementioned compounds of groups (a), (b) and (c), and the use of the condensation products as drainage, flocculation and retention aids in papermaking.

Abstract: Preparation of water-soluble, amino group-containing condensation or addition product with an increased dewatering and retention effect when used in the production of paper, comprises: (a) subjecting aqueous solutions of the condensation or addition products listed below, to an ultrafiltration step using membranes in order to separate 5 - 95 wt.% of the products as a permeate, and optionally (b) recovering the amino-group containing water-soluble products with enhanced dewatering and retention properties from the retentate. The condensate and addition reaction products are selected from: (a) reaction products of alkylene diamines, polyalkylene polyamines and/or ethylene imine-grafted polyamidoamines with cross-linking agents (CLAs) containing \- 2 functional groups ; (b) Michael reaction addition products of alkylene diamines, polyalkylene polyamines and/or ethylene imine-grafted polyamidoamines, or monoethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acids or their salts, esters, amides or nitriles with at least bifunctional CLAs; (c) amidised polyethylene imines (prepared by reacting polyethylene imines with monobasic carboxylic acids or their esters, anhydrides or amides), optionally reacted with CLAs containing \- 2 functional groups; (d) polyethylene imines, quaternary polyethylene imines, (cross-linked) phosphono-methylated polyethylene imines and/or carboxymethylated (by chain extension reaction) polyethylene imines, or (e) cross-linked alkoxylated polyethylene imines, cross-linked quat. polyethylene imines, cross-linked phosphono-methylated polyethylene imines and/or carboxymethylated (by chain extension reaction) polyethylene imines.
