    Abstract: A medical moulded part, in particular a component of a transmission system for perfusion or transfusion purposes, is made of a mixture that contains (P1) 0.1 to 100 % by weight of a rubber-elastic block copolymer made of at least one block S that forms a hard phase and contains polymerised units of a vinyl aromatic monomer and of at least one block B/S that forms a soft phase and contains polymerised units of both a vinyl aromatic monomer (S) and a diene (B). The glass transition temperature Tg of block S is higher than 25 DEG C and that of block B/S is lower than 25 DEG C. The phase volume ratio between block S and block B/S is selected so that the hard phase represents 1 to 40 % by volume of the whole block copolymer and the diene less than 50 % by weight of the whole block copolymer. The mixture also contains (P2) 0 to 99.9 % by weight of a thermoplastic and/or duroplastic polymer; and (P3) 0 to 70 % by weight other additives and auxiliary substances. The sum of the percentages by weight of components P1 to P3 equals 100 %.

    Abstract: Production of random copolymers from monomers S and B by anionic polymerization comprises: (a) using a mixture containing monomers S and B in given initial concentrations; (b) bringing this mixture into contact with the polymerization initiator I or a growing polymer chain PBI or PSI; and (c) adding the remainder of monomer B at a rate determined by repeated solution of given differential equations.     Abstract: An expandable rubber modified styrene polymer (I) comprises (A) a continuous phase of polystyrene or a styrene comonomer containing up to 50 wt.% comonomer (B) 5-30 wt.% (w.r.t. polymer mixture) of dispersed rubber particles and (C) 2-15 pts.wt. (w.r.t. 100 pts wt. polymer mixture) of a low binding blowing agent. The rubber particles consists of a butadiene/styrene block copolymer having a compact lamella structure without polystyrene inclusions. Also claimed are: (i) a process for the production of (I) by dissolving (B) in (A) followed by polymerisation of the monomers and processing to a granular form whereby (C) is added during or after polymerisation. (ii) pre-foamed beads having pore walls made of (I).

    Abstract: The invention relates to a transparent, stretchable film, especially for modified atmosphere food packaging, comprising at least three levels A,B,C and possibly D, wherein A is composed of a polymer P1 or a mixture of P1 and P2 and P1 is a rubber elastic block copolymer of styrene and a special softening phase of styrene and butadiene; the second layer B is made of a polymer P2 exhibiting a water vapour permeability Pw of less than 8; the third layer C is made of a polymer with an oxygen permeability Po of less than 1000; and optionally a fourth layer D made of a polymer without any limitation of permeability. The invention also relates to the use of the above-mentioned film as food packaging and to a method of packing food in particular, especially one using said film in a standard packing machine.
