Abstract: An electronic circuit includes a bandgap reference circuit and a start-up circuit for starting up the bandgap reference circuit. The bandgap reference circuit includes at least one electric path having a semiconductor diode and a resistor connected in series with said semiconductor diode, wherein the voltage across the resistor is proportional to the absolute temperature of the semiconductor diode. The start-up circuit assists starting up the bandgap reference circuit until the voltage across the resistor reaches a preset threshold voltage, and the start-up circuit turns off automatically when the voltage across the resistor has reached the threshold voltage.

An extreme value detector (16,17) performs phase-shifted detection of the successive maxima and minima. A null crossing setting device sets imaginary null crossings of the sensor signal following the detected extremes. A second alternating output signal is generated according to the imaginary null crossings.
