Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mold-releasing polyphenylene sulfide film for liquid crystal membranes which can improve the surface defects of stripe roughness occurring on the melt molding with excellent heat resistance by arranging a melt-kneading mixer between the filter and the T die. SOLUTION: This film has an average surface roughness of 0.005-0.03μm and the uneven stripes occurring on the film surface having >=0.3μm height from the film base face at a rate of . This polymer is melt-kneaded and filtered through a filter in a melt extruder and extruded out of a die into a sheet, and biaxially oriented to give the objective film. In this process a mixer which can melt-knead the polymer is inserted between the filtration process and the T die.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a uniaxial stretching film having less thickness marks, stretching marks and a homogeneous biaxial stretching film having excellent thickness mark and flatness by melting polyphenylene sulfide, extruding it in a film state, and stretching it at a specific atmospheric temperature. CONSTITUTION:An amorphous polyphenylene sulfide film 11 is wound on preheating rolls 1, 2, 3 to be heated, and an upper surface of the film between the roll 3 and a heater 9 is insulated by an infrared heater 10. Subsequently, the film is stretched longitudinally between a stretching roll and a cooling roll 5 disposed in the heater 9 at an atmospheric temperature Ts to obtain a uniaxial stretching film 12. Then, after it is laterally stretched in a room in which hot blast is circulated by a tenter, it is constant-length heat treated to obtain a biaxial stretching film. Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the electrical insulating properties of the subject film by forming a film from poly-p-phenylene sulfide resin pellets contg. inert fine particles having a mean value and a relative standard deviation of the equivalent diameter of equal-area circle as calculated by a specific equation and a specified particle diameter ratio. CONSTITUTION:Inert fine particles, e.g. vaterite CaCO3, are dispersed in a liq. boiling at 180-290 deg.C, e.g. ethylene glycol, to give a slurry contg. the particles having a particle diameter ratio of 1.0-2.5, a relative standard deviation of the equivalent diameter of equal-area circle as calculated by equation I [wherein Di is an equivalent diameter (mum) of equal-area circle of particles; D is a mean value (mum) of the equivalent diameter calculated by equation II; and (n) is the number of particles] of 1.0 or lower, and a mean value of the equivalent diameter of 0.05-3.0mum. The slurry is mixed with a poly-p-phenylene sulfide powder and extruded on a vented extruder to give pellets contg. 0.01-2wt.% the particles, which are extruded into a film and biaxially oriented, thus giving the objective film.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a biaxially oriented poly-p-phenylene sulfide film, which is thermally stable in dimensional change, mechanical characteristics, transparency and the like, by a method wherein poly-p-phenylene sulfide, which contains the required quantity or more of the specified repeating unit and has the specified melt viscosity, is molded into a sheet form and quenched and, after that, simultaneously biaxially oriented in the limited temperature range and finally thermoset at the specified temperature so as to set its density to the required value. CONSTITUTION:Poluy-p-phenylene sulfide, which contains 90% by mole or more of the repeating unit represented by the general formula and the melt viscosity of which at 300 deg.C and shearing speed of 200s is 100-600,000 poise, is melt-formed into a sheet form and quenched at a cooling speed of 5 deg.C/s or higher in order to obtain an amorphous film. In succession, the amorphous film is simultaneously biaxially oriented at 80-120 deg.C by the areal draw ratio of 400% or more. Further, the oriented film is thermoset at a temperature ranging from 180 deg.C to the melting point of the polymer in order to set the density of the film within the range of 1.330-1.400. The adopted thermosetting time varies from the unit of second to the unit of minute such as from about 1sec to the order of 10min.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled polymer having excellent stability to oxidation, ultraviolet rays and melting and an excellent effect of preventing formation of corrosive gases, having electron-attracting groups and further containing aromatic residues chemically bonded to the phenylene sulfide chain. CONSTITUTION:A stabilized polyphenylene sulfide having, in the main chain, chain segments of the formula, wherein n is an integer >=20, and electron-attracting groups selected from the group consisting of -SO2-, -CO-, -NO2, -SO3R and -COOR, in which R is H, a lower hydrocarbon group, an aromatic hydrocarbon group or an alkali metal and further containing 0.05-10mol% (per phenyl sulfide unit) aromatic residues chemically bonded to the phenylene sulfide chain of the above-described formula. This polymer has an improved resistance to ultraviolet rays and a prolonged outdoor service life when molded. It is possible to carry out viscosity reduction in the molten state, to reduce formation of volatile low- MW matter including sulfur-containing inorganic gases and to reduce the gel fraction of a molding.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain mechanical performance even under a high temperature by reducing variation in size due to an change in envirotment such as a temperature and humidity, by using a specific poly-P-phenylene-sulfide film as a base film. CONSTITUTION:As a base film, a biaxial-orientation poly-P-phenylene-sulfide film is used which contains more than 90mol% of the repetitive unit of a formula, is more than 250Kg/mm in modulus of more than unidirectional elasticity at 20 deg.C, and is between -2X10 and 2X10 mm/(mm.C) in thermal expansivity in a range from 20 to 150 deg.C. On this film, a magnetic layer is formed by coating, plating, or the like. Here, productivity improves because the magnetic layer can be formed under a higher temperature than before. Further, the formation of the magnetic layer can be performed in an thermally-severe atmosphere of vapor-deposition, sputtering, etc.
