Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the heating efficiency of a heater so as to decrease the temperature thereof by using as a binder one of a noncrystalline metal oxide, a noncrystalline metal hydroxide and a mixture of both so as to form a layer containing one of a metal or the oxide thereof, a carbide and a nitride on the inner surface of a cathode support body structure. CONSTITUTION:A cathodic base body 1 prepared through the process of impregnating porous tungsten obtained by sintering tungsten powder having its grain diameter of 3 to 10mum with an electron emission material made up of BaO, CaO and Al2O3 is welded to a cup 2 made of Ta via a soldering material 3 made of such a compound as an Ru-Mo alloy or the like, subsequently inserted into the top portion of a cathode support body structure 5 made of Ta having its ceramic layer 4 that has been sintered at a low temperature, and subsequently welded and fixed via a weld point 6. This cathode support body structure 5 has the periphery of the bottom portion thereof provided with a strap 8 which is made up of three ribbons each made of Ta and also each being 0.05mm thick and 0.7mm wide, and which is welded via a weld point 7. This strap 8 has the other end portion thereof welded to the shoulder portion of a cylindrical holder 9 which is manufactured by press-moulding an Fe-Ni-Co alloy sheet being 0.125mm thick via a weld point 10. Also a heater 11 is built inside the cathode support body structure made of Ta.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance focusing performance of a color picture tube by setting the magnetic intensity of each of the pairs of permanent magnets according to the space between a pair of vertical permanent magnets and a pair of horizontal permanent magnets in the direction of the tube axis. CONSTITUTION:A center beam G and a pair of side beams B, R are arranged in a position separate by predetermined distance from a pair of vertical permanent magnets 29a, 29b and a pair of horizontal permanent magnets 27a, 27b, so that the irregularity of ellipticity of the beam spot of the center beam G and the pair of side beams B, R can be corrected. The pair of side beams B, R are emitted with an inclination to an electron gun structure body 20 so that the side beams B, R concentrate on one point at the center of a phosphor screen 5. Thus the magnetetization intensity of each of the pairs of permanent magnets is set to proper strength according to the space between the pair of horizontal permanent magnets 27a, 27b in the direction of the tube axis. Therefore, the beam spot of three electron beams formed at the center of the phosphor screen can be corrected to almost a circle, which enhances focusing performance of a color picture tube.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the focusing performance at end sections on the vertical axis of a fluorescent screen by correcting the distortion on a spot beam due to the barrel-shaped magnetic field generated by a vertical deflecting coil with the pin cushion-shaped magnetic fields generated by three pairs of two-pole permanent magnets. CONSTITUTION:Three pairs of two-pole permanent magnets 25a, 25b, 26a and 26b generate strong pin cushion-shaped magnetic fields 31 and 32 protruded on the center axis of a deflecting device 9, i.e., the path of an electron beam. The spot of the electron beam passing the magnetic field 31 generated by a pair of two-pole permanent magnets arranged in the vertical direction and reaching a fluorescent screen receives the Lorentz force distorted in an elliptic shape with a major axis in the vertical direction contrary to the Lorentz force received from the barrel-shaped deflection magnetic field 30, and phenomena that an ellipse is formed with the major axis in the horizontal direction of the beam spot based on the magnetic field 30 and a pair of side beams are inclined are corrected. A correcting device can be simplified and miniaturized with mass productivity due to the correcting effect of the beam spot by a pair of upper and lower magnets 25a and 25b.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a color picture tube generating no color drift on a screen by exposing an exposed layer with the displacement of a shadow mask against a panel by the preset quantity in the downward direction when the color picture tube is operated with its tube axis kept horizontal. CONSTITUTION:A displacing means 40 is provided on an exposing device, and a photosensitive film 18 and a phosphor slurry layer formed on the inner face of a panel 1 are baked via a shadow mask 6. The shadow mask 6 is forcibly displaced by the preset quantity in the downward direction of the panel side 44a when a color picture tube is operated with its tube axis kept horizontal for exposure, thus a phosphor screen is formed. When the tube axis is made vertical (panel is made horizontal), the matching relationship between three-color phosphor dots of the phosphor screen and the shadow mask is drifted, but when the picture tube is incorporated in a television set with the tube axis kept horizontal, the positional relationship between the three-color phosphor dots of the phosphor screen and the shadow mask becomes the same state as that when the photosensitive film 18 and the phosphor screen slurry layer are baked, and a picture tube generating no color drift is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve reliability with suppression of temperature rise of a mold even at high horizontal deflection frequency, by forming a core, whose thermal radiation factor is higher than that of the mold, on the surface of the mold composing a deflecting device. CONSTITUTION:A deflecting device 1 for a color cathode-ray tube comprises at least the following units: a conical mold 3 made of synthetic resin such as polypropylene internally equipped with a horizontal deflecting coil 2, a toroidal core 4, and a vertical deflecting coil 5 wound around this core. This mold 3 is made of polypropylene, with a ceramic layer 6 formed thereon. Such formation of the ceramic layer 6 on the surface of the mold 3 suppresses a rise in temperature of the mold 3, making it possible to obtain the deflecting device which can be stably operated with less heat generation even at high horizontal deflection frequency.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make easy the attaching and the detaching of a mask frame to and from the surface of a panel of a color picture tube and also not to generate the displacement of a shadow mask when a shock is applied from outside of the color picture tube by constructing the holder with fixing portion and attaching portion and by making the thickness of a locking member fixed to the attaching portion thinner toward the screen. CONSTITUTION:A holder 12 welded to a mask frame 7 is extended to the position nearly contacting to the head portion of a stud pin 10, and the locking member 13 on the attaching portion 12c has a hole with a diameter of a little larger than that of the head portion of the stud pin 10. And the said member 13 has a hole 13b freely attachable for pressing or fitting to the side wall of the stud pin 10 when contacted to the said pin 10, and the attaching portion 12c extended from the connecting portion 12b has an aperture 12d large enough not to contact to the stud pin 10. The locking member 13 is fixed to the attaching portion 12c by welding, and the thickness of the screen 4 side portion 13a of the locking member 13 is made thinner gradually toward the screen. therefore the mask frame can be easily attached and detached to and from the panel without damaging the stud pin.

CONSTITUTION:A magnetic piece 50 consists, for example, of a silicone steel plate and on the surface of said silicone steel plate a ceramic layer 10 is formed. Said ceramic layer is formed by a method wherein suspension of silicon containing zirconium (ZrSiO4) and an alkoxide compound of zirconium, for example, ZrSi(OC4H9)4 is applied as a filler by a spraying method to form an about 10mum thick coating followed by heat treatment. Thereby, temperature rise of a magnetic material can be suppressed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To restrain the color purity of an image plane from deteriorating, by supsending a shadow mask frame on a panel side wall with a fine strip elastic member, and setting an angle made between the movable part and a tube axis and another angle made between an electron beam and the tube axis, to the specified relationship. CONSTITUTION:A mask frame 17 supporting a shadow mask 15 of a color picture tube is suspended on a stud 10 of the side wall of a panel 1 by a fine strip elastic member 22. At this juncture, when a thermal expansion coefficient of the mask frame 17 at room temperature or in a range of 200 deg.C is set to alphaf, and that of the shadow mask 15 to alpham as well as an angle made between a movable piece part 22a of the elastic member 22 and a tube axis 20 is set to alpha and that made between an electron beam 24 and the tube axis 20 to beta, respectively, they should be set so as to satisfy a relationship of tan (alpha)>alpham/alphaf.tan(90-beta). And, displacement of the electron beam with thermal expansion in the shadow mask is restrained from occurring. Accordingly, a mislanding quantity is reduced, and reduction in chromatic aberration or the like is promotable.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent adhesion of byproducts mainly composed of hydrogen carbide to the surface of cathode by activating the cathode which the charged particles at the neck is deflected by magnetic field during the aging process of cathode-ray tube. CONSTITUTION:The aging of cathode ray tube is carried out by activating cathode substance of cathode 2 by applying the power to the heater 1, applying positive voltage to the cathode 2, ground voltage to the control electrode 3 and a positive voltage to the acceleration electrode 4. In this case, a magnet 10 which is magnetized in the axial direction and generates magnetic field 10a almost vertical to the cathode 2 is arranged between the cathode 2 and control electrode 3 and thereby deflection is carried out so that the ionized particles are isolated far from the center of cathode 2 when the residual gas CH4 collides with electrons emitted from th cathode 2. Therefore, adhesion to the cathode of byproducts mainly composed of the hydrogen carbide can be prevented and hot electron emission capability can be improved.
