    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a human photo aged skin model useful for evaluating cosmetics or the like in terms of anti-photoageing or improving effects, and to provide an animal model and a method for producing them.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high correlative relation with sensory evaluation and also to easily attain measurement by measuring the thickness of skin. SOLUTION: Skin consists of three layers, that is, a cuticle, a corium and a hypodermis. The total thickness of the three is measured and a skin stiffening effect is evaluated by the increase and decrease rate. It is favorable that the total thickness of the cuticle and the corium among them is measured since correlation with a skin stiffening feeling by human sense is high and, especially, the measurement of the thickness of the corium is favorable. Measurement is easily attained in vivo by a method for analyzing an image through the use of an ultrasonic wave measuring instrument as the one for measuring skin thickness and it is favorable as precision is high. The increase and decrease rate in skin thickness measured in this way is provided with high correlative relation with the skin stiffening feeling. The feeling is increased when skin becomes thinner and it is lost when skin becomes thick.

SOLUTION: This evaluation is to measure the strength of collagen gel filled up animal cells containing a test sample. As the animal cells, normal skin fibroblast, pulmonary fibroblast, gingival fibroblast, chondromatous cell, liver cell and vascular endothelial cell are illustrated. Among them, skin fibroblast and pulmonary fibroblast are particularly preferable. As the animals providing cells, human, mouse, rat and rabbit are preferable. As these cells, both of primary cultured cells and aged cells of which subculture is repeated in vitro may be used. In addition, either of cells arising from fetus and aged man may be also utilized. As collagens used here, collagens arising from human, mouse, rat, rabbit, guinea pig and cattle are preferable. As methods for measuring the strength of collagen gel, stress relaxation test, cutting test and creep test are illustrated.

The skin cosmetic is preferably obtained by blending 0.001-50wt.% component A with 0.0001-10wt.% component B. An organic acid or its ester in an amount of 0.001-30wt.% may further be added to the system. The component of formula I is e.g. obtained from a compound of formula IV.
