Abstract:
The present invention is a novel and improved method and apparatus for performing position location in wireless communications system. One embodiment of the invention comprises a method for performing position location including the steps of receiving a set of higher resolution sample data at a resolution interval, accumulating said higher resolution sample data over a chip interval yielding accumulation sums, and correlating said accumulation sums with a correlation code at a set of offsets which are separated by said resolution interval.

The present invention is a novel and improved method and apparatus for performing position location in wireless communications system. One embodiment comprises a method for performing position location in a wireless communication system using a set of signals transmitted from a set of satellites including the steps of receiving signal samples, rotating an acquisition code by a first rotation amount yielding a rotated acquisition code, despreading said signal samples using rotated acquisition code yielding despread data, accumulating said despread data over a first duration yielding partially accumulated data, rotating said partially accumulated data by a second rotation amount yielding rotated data and accumulating said rotated data.

Abstract:
A wireless communications device is configurable to communicate with either one of two networks over a wireless medium, each of the two networks having a different air interface protocol. Additionally, the wireless device includes stored provisioning information for a set of networks of a first type and can map this first provisioning information into a second format for use with networks of a second type. The device also includes a non-volatile memory for storing default provisioning information so that some information remains available regardless of what is erased from the memory. The default provisioning information is enough to establish a connection over one of the available networks and allow reconstruction of a provisioning list.
Abstract:
In a wireless communication system, a method and apparatus of communicating between at least one base station and a core network is claimed. Signaling messages and voice streams are transported using packet-switched protocols (IP). A CIC field (Circuit Identity Code) is used to identify at least one VoIP streams. The CIC field may be interpreted as a UDP port number for the voice over IP stream. Also, a synchronization source or contributing source filed of a RTP header may be used as the CIC field (fig. 1).
Abstract:
A data Interface for transferring digital data between a host and a client over a communication path using packet structures linked together to form a communication protocol for communicating a pre-selected set of digital control and presentation data. The signal protocol is used by link controllers configured to generate, transmit, and receive packets forming the communications protocol, and to form digital data into one or more types of data packets, with at least one residing in the host device and being coupled to the client through the communications path. The interface provides a cost-effective, low power, bi-directional, high-speed data transfer mechanism over a short-range "serial" type data link, which lends itself to implementation with miniature connectors and thin flexible cables which are especially useful in connecting display elements such as wearable micro-displays to portable computers and wireless communication devices.

Abstract:
A novel and improved method for performing paging is described. In one embodiment of the invention a searcher is used to detect spread spectrum signals. Samples received RF signals are stored in a sample buffer. During standby mode, the samples are gathered during paging slots assigned to the mobile. A set of searches are performed on the samples, and if pilot signals are detected additional demodulation is performed to detect paging messages. The resulting set of demodulation data may be combined to increase detection. After a page message has been detected, additional demodulation resources may be activated to processes more complete page messages, or other information channels. In one embodiment of the invention, the searcher includes a demodulator to perform quick page detection without the use of finger elements to reduce idle mode power consumption.
