Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for converting to lactide and, more specifically, to a method and an apparatus for converting lactide in a fed-batch manner to improve the conversion efficiency of lactic acid into lactide during a synthesizing process of polylactic acid which is applicable to vehicle interior materials, building materials, and the likes. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of a first step of polymerizing the lactic acid to oligomer polylactic acid; a second step of depolymerizing the oligomer polylactic acid formed by the polymerization, to convert the oligomer polylactic acid into lactide; and a third step of collecting the converted lactide, wherein the first step and the second step are performed by using separate reactors.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for cheaply preparing lactic acid are provided to improve fermentation efficiency and to largely reduce time and costs for isolating lactic acid from a fermented liquid. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for preparing lactic acid comprises: a fermentation tank (10) for fermenting lactic acid using bacteria; a film (16) which receives a fermented liquid (14) and removes the bacteria; and a lactic acid adsorption resin (17) which receives the filtered liquid and selectively adsorbs lactic acid. A method for preparing lactic acid comprises the steps of: mixing a culture medium, bacteria, and sugar in the fermentation tank and fermenting the mixture; filtering the fermented liquid using the film and removing the bacteria; and selectively adsorbing and separating lactic acid by the lactic acid adsorption resin.
