    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a vascular embolic agent, excellent in the safety such as neither adverse side effect nor danger caused by organic solvents and suitably usable in intravascular operation. CONSTITUTION:This vascular embolic agent comprises an aqueous solution containing a heat-sensitive polymeric compound, constituted of at least one recurring unit of an N-substituted (meth)acrylamide represented by the formula (R is H or methyl; R is H, an alkyl or an alkoxyalkyl; R is an alkyl or an alkoxvalkyl) and having a molecular weight corresponding to 0.01-6.0dl/g intrinsic viscosity [eta] in a tetrahydrofuran solution at 27 deg.C and 10-37 deg.C transition temperature in water at 0.5-50wt.% concentration. A homopolymer of the N- substituted (meth)acrylamide, a copolymer of two or more thereof and a copolymer of the N-substituted (meth)acrylamide and other monomers are cited as the heat-sensitive polymeric compound. The vascular embolic agent is capable of emerging from a catheter, thereby increasing the temperature, convertible into a solid form and blocking blood vessels.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively separate adhering organisms without causing water pollution by applying, to the surface where the organisms grow, a separating agent comprising a specific heat-sensitive high-molecular compd. which is water- insol in the temp. range allowing the organisms to live and is water-sol. at a temp. lower than the above temp. range. CONSTITUTION:An agent for separating adhering organisms (e. g. algae, barnacles, or shellfishes) comprises a heat-sensitive high-molecular compd. (e. g. poly-N-acryloylpiperidine) which is insol. in water or sea water in the temp. range allowing the organisms to live and insol. at a temp. lower than the above temp. range and which has an intrinsic viscosity [eta[ at 27 deg.C in tetrahydrofuran of 0.01-6.0dl/g. The agent in the form of film or soln. is stuck to or printed on a desired place of an object, dipped in water or sea water at the phase transition temp. of the agent or higher to allow the organisms to adhere, cooled to lower than the phase transition temp., and thus partly or wholy dissolved, thereby separating the organisms.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having high strength and losing the water-solubility with heat by adding a cationic surfactant to an aqueous solution of a specific acrylamide-type vinyl compound and radically polymerizing the monomer at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer having a molecular weight corresponding to an intrinsic viscosity of 2-6 at 27 deg.C as a THF solution can be produced by adding a cationic surfactant or an anionic surfactant at a concentration above the critical micelle concentration to an aqueous solution of an acrylamide- type vinyl compound (e.g. acrylamide) capable of forming a homopolymer exhibiting thermally reversible hydrophilic-hydrophobic dissolution characteristics and radically (co)polymerizing the monomer at a temperature above the cloud point of the resultant aqueous solution of (co)polymer. The above surfactant is preferably trimethylstearylammonium chloride or sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new thermally reversible hydrophilic-hydrophobic polymer compd. which is reversibly water-soluble at a low temp. range and water- insoluble at a higher temp. range and have a transition temp. different from conventional products by radical-polymerizing N-(2-methoxyethyl)N-n- propylacrylamide. CONSTITUTION:This thermally reversible hydrophilic-hydrophobic polymer compd. consists of a repeating units of formula I and has an MW corresponding to an intrinsic viscosity [eta] of a tetrahydrofulan soln. at 27 deg.C of 0.01-6.0. This polymer compd. is obtd. by radical-polymerizing a vinyl compd. of formula II. The transition temp. changes in accordance with polymn. condition and is usually in the range of about 11-14 deg.C.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a dyed material rich in unconventional high-class feeling by printing a textile product with a resist size consisting of a thermally reversible high polymer and then dipping the textile product in a noble metal hydrosol containing a cationic surfactant above the phase transition temperature essential to the afore-mentioned resist size. CONSTITUTION:A textile product consisting of natural, synthetic fiber, etc., is printed with a resist size consisting of a thermally reversible high polymer, i.e., a high polymer (e.g., polyN-isopropylacrylamide) capable of phase transition from a hydrophilic (low temperature) to a hydrophobic phases (high temperature) with temperature in a state coexisting with water and the resultant textile product is then dipped in a noble metal hydrosol containing a cationic surfactant above the phase transition temperature essential to the afore-mentioned resist size to dye parts other than the above-mentioned printed part. The afore- mentioned size is subsequently removed with cold water below the phase transition temperature. The textile product is dyed to brown, violet or red color in the case of gold hydrosol and to yellow color in the case of silver hydrosol.
