Abstract: A process is proposed for preparing acid formates in which a liquid stream I comprising formic acid and a liquid stream II comprising a metal formate are prepared, the liquid streams I and II are fed to a rectification column in such a manner that a higher or identical feed point to the rectification column is chosen for the liquid stream II than for the liquid stream I, the liquid streams I and II are mixed in the rectification column, with water being removed overhead from the rectification column and a bottoms stream comprising the acid formate is taken off from the rectification column, which comprises the bottoms stream being produced as melt comprising less than 0.5% by weight of water.

Abstract: Use is claimed of crosslinked polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) particles, of size 50-400 mu , as additives for compacted particulate detergents to increase the disintegration rate when the detergent comes in contact with water. Independent claims are also included for: (i) compacted particulate detergent compositions containing 0.5-20 wt.% of the PVP additive particles of size 50-400 mu with at least 10 wt.% below 200 mu ; and (ii) production of such compositions containing the PVP disintegrating agent by mixing the PVP particles with powdered detergent ingredients and compacting the mixture.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of cross-linked polymers which have a water absorbency of less than 30 g/g polymer (determined in a 0.9 wt. % aqueous common-salt solution) and which contain polymerised monoethylenic unsaturated monomers that contain acid groups and/or the alkali salts or ammonium salts thereof and optionally additional polymerised monoethylenic unsaturated monomers. Said cross-linked polymers are used as an additive for compact, particle-shaped washing and cleaning agents for increasing the disintegration rate when being brought into contact with water. The invention also relates to the use of compact, particle-shaped washing and cleaning agents which contain cross-linked polymers with a water absorbency of less than 30 g/g polymer (determined in a 0.9 wt. % aqueous common-salt solution).
