Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new 2,6-naphthalenebis(methylenemalonic acid diester) derivative having an excellent ultraviolet-absorbing effect, excellent in light stability and useful for cosmetics, etc. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula 1 (R and R are each a hydrocarbon), e.g. 2,6-naphthalenebis[methylenemalonic acid di(2-ethylhexyl)]. This compound can be synthesized by condensing naphthalene 2,6-dialdehyde of formula 2 and amalonic acid diester of formula 3 in the presence of a catalyst in a solvent or without using a solvent. The amount of this compound of formula 1 blended in a cosmetic is generally 0.1 to 20wt.%, preferably 0.5 to 10wt.%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a melanin suppressing agent capable of preventing and improving melanization by acting on an epidermal melanin metabolism system and having excellent effect capable of preventing and improving stain or ephelis due to suntan, etc., and excellent in blending property to a cosmetic base. CONSTITUTION:This melanin suppressing agent contains an amine derivative of formula I (R is 4-40C straight-chain, branched chain or cyclic saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; R to R are H or 1-10C hydrocarbon groups whose hydrogen atoms may be substituted with one or more OH groups) or its acid addition salt, e.g. 1-(2-hydroxyethylamino)-3-tetradesiloxy-2-propanol. The compound is blended in an amount of 0.0001-10wt.%, especially 0.001-2wt.% based on total composition of a cosmetic to provide a beautifying cosmetic excellent in effect capable of preventing and treating melanization. The compound of formula 1 is obtained by adding an amine derivative of formula 3 to a glycidyl ether derivative of formula 2.

CONSTITUTION:The wrinkle improver and keratinization improver consists of an amine derivative of formula I (R is 8-40C straight-chain or branched chain hydrocarbon group which may have OH; R to R are H or 1-7C hydrocarbon group which may have OH; R is 2-6C hydrocarbon group which may have OH; X is OR , CO2R or CONR R (R to R are H or 1-20C hydrocarbon which contains O) or its acid addition salt or quaternary compound, e.g. 1-(2 hydroxyethylamino)-2,16-hexadecanediol. This compound has action capable of suppressing DNA synthesis of an epidermic cell, promoting differential induction and suppressing hyperplasia of epidermis. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting an alcohol of formula 2 to halogenation or sulfonic acid esterification and adding an amine of formula 4 to the resultant compound of formula 3.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound, capable of exhibiting ultraviolet ray absorbing action over a wide wavelength region and useful as ultraviolet ray absorbers, cosmetics, etc. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by formula I [R is 1-8C alkyl, 6-10C aryl, OH, 1-8C alkoxy, 2-8C alkenyloxy, 1-8C perfluoroalkyl, etc.; (n) and (m) are 0-4; (n+m) is >=1], e.g. 2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-6-phenyl-4H-pyran-4-one. Furthermore, the aforementioned compound expressed by formula I is obtained by condensing a benzoylacetone derivative expressed by formula II with a benzoic acid derivative expressed by formula III in the presence of a base such as sodium hydroxide as a catalyst in an aprotic solvent such as diethyl ether at 20-150 deg.C and then cyclodehyrating the resultant compound expressed by formula IV with a strong acid such as sulfuric acid. A cosmetic containing the above-mentioned compound is excellent in anti-suntan effects.

CONSTITUTION:A skin drug for external use is obtained by blending (A) 5-70wt.% oily phase ingredient containing a silicone oil with (B) 20-94.5wt.% aqueous phase ingredient containing polyols and (C) 0.5-30wt.% emulsifying agent containing a compound expressed by formula I [at least one of R to R is formula II (Q is 3-20C bifunctional hydrocarbon group; at least one of R and R is H and the rest is 1-5C hydrocarbon group) and the rest are R or XR (X is bifunctuonal hydrocarbon group containing ether bond and/or ester bond; R is l-30C straight-chain, branched chain or cyclic hydrocarbon group); l to n are numbers of 0 to 2000, R and R are H) and the rest are CH3] as essential ingredients. The resultant skin drug for external use has the above-mentioned effects.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound having chain length controlled to a fixed number by using a compound prepared by reacting a cyclic silicone with chlorosilane in the presence of active carbon substantially not containing water and a specific amount of water. CONSTITUTION:1 mol compound shown by formula I (R is alkyl, alkenyl or aryl; n is 3-10) is reacted with 1-10 mols compound shown by formula II in the presence of 1-50 wt.% active carbon dried preferably at >=100 deg.C for >=1 hour and water in a sufficient amount (0.3-3.8 mol % based on compound shown by formula II) to patially hydrolyze the compound shown by formula II and to evolve hydrogen chloride which advances ring opening reaction of the compound shown by formula I at room temperature for 1-5 hours to give a compound shown by formula III. Then this compound shown by formula III is reacted with a compound shown by formula IV[A is R or R3SiO(R2SiO)m (m is 3-20)] to give the objective compound shown by formula V.
