Abstract:
A single phase whitening dentifrice that includes (i) a whitening agent selected from the group consisting of hydrogen peroxide, a bound peroxide and a solid peroxide (ii) an abrasive and (iii) a substantially anhydrous orally acceptable carrier, for example, polyethylene glycol. The bound peroxide may be hydrogen peroxide and a polymer and/or any peroxide compound and a porous cross-linked polymer, such as polymers of polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyacrylates, a polymethacrylates, and a polyitaconates. The solid peroxide may be sodium perborate or urea peroxide. The invention also provides methods of whitening the tooth surfaces by contacting the surface with the composition.
Abstract:
An oral composition is provided covering one or more cationic active ingredients and a cationic-compatible inorganic particulate having a porous surface that is substantially inert to the cationic active ingredient. The oral composition also has a cationic-compatible surfactant system and a carrier that is stable in the presence of the cationic active ingredient. The oral composition can be provided in a dual tube or single tube form, if desired.
Abstract:
Low water tooth pastes contain a variety of plant extracts. The oral or dentifrice compositions containing humectants, abrasive compounds, and a variety of plant extracts, such as rosemary and green tea extracts, along with an additional antioxidant component. Examples of antioxidants include stannous compounds, sodium meta-bisulfite, BHT, ammonium sulfate, and potassium stannate. The compositions are resistant to browning. The invention also provides methods for promoting oral health of a subject animal comprising applying a composition as discussed above to the oral surfaces of the animal.
Abstract:
Oral care compositions containing: a free-B-ring flavonoid and a flavan; as well as at least one bioavailability-enhancing agent are provided. Methods of using the oral compositions are also provided.
Abstract:
The method of the present invention is directed to the storage and dispensing of a peroxide containing tooth whitening composition. During storage and subsequent use the composition in the storage chamber must be maintained segregated from the applicator surface. This is accomplished by delivering the peroxide containing tooth whitening composition from the storage chamber through a delivery channel having a length and a cross-sectional diameter sufficient to preclude the migration of moisture and the enzyme catalase from the application surface to the storage chamber. The composition is applied to teeth by means of bristles, a sponge surface or fibrillated surface. This applicator can be used with both aqueous and non-aqueous peroxide containing tooth whitening compositions.
