A conductor pad and a flexible circuit including a conductor pad are provided. The conductor pad includes a first contact region, a second contact region, and a body portion configured to establish a conductive path between the first contact region and the second contact region. The body portion includes a perimeter edge having at least a first convex segment and a second convex with a first non-convex segment disposed between the first convex segment and the second convex segment. A method of constructing a flexible circuit to facilitate roll-to-roll manufacturing of the flexible circuit is also provided.

In a contact device with a plurality of mutually remote and interconnected contact points, the contact points are connected by means of strip-like, flexible conductive track foils in which at least partly electrically separable contact points are connected through via a plurality of at least partly parallel conductive tracks on the foil and in which conductive track sections form direct plug contacts in plug-in regions of modular plug and/or socket devices of the connection device.

Bei einer Anschlußeinrichtung einer Schaltungsfolie sind auf eine flexible Trägerfolie 1 Bahnen als Leiter oder Widerstände aufgebracht. Um an eine Anschlußleiste 17, an der ein erster Schaltungsteil liegt, einen zweiten Schaltungsteil kreuzungsfrei anzuschließen und eine einfache Herstellung zu erlauben, ist die Folie 1 längs einer Knicklinie 18 geknickt, die quer zu den Bahnen 9,10, 11, 15 verläuft. An den gegeneinander geknickten Folienteilen 20, 21 liegen die Bahnen 2 bis 15 außen und die Knicklinie 18 steckt in der Anschlußleiste 17.

Zum elektrischen Verbinden einer Vielzahl von dicht beieinander leigenden Anschlüssen eines Displays (1) mit einer Leiterplatte (20) sind flexible Leiterplatten (9,10,11) vorgesehen, von denen jede einer bestimmten Anzahl von Display-Anschlüssen zugeordnet ist. Der Abstand der Leiterbahnen zueinander vergrößert sich mit zunehmender Entfernung vom Display (1) bis zu einem vorgegebenen Leiterplattenrastermaß (16). Eine solche Verbindung gestattet eine besonders platzsparende Ausführung der Leiterplatte, mit der das Display verbunden werden soll und ist zudem leicht herstellbar.

A flexible flat cable connecting structure and a flexible flat cable connecting method are provided so that a connector can be connected by pitch conversion without complicating the structure of the connector and metal molds for forming mold parts become unnecessary. A flexible flat cable connecting structure for connecting a flexible flat cable (13) in which a plurality of rectangular conductors (11) are provided in parallel and a plurality of connector terminals arranged at an array pitch different from that of the rectangular conductors comprises an intermediate cable arranging member (17) one end of which is coupled to the connector terminals and in which a plurality of branch conductors (19) are provided in parallel which are set to have mutually different longitudinal dimensions according to the array pitch. The intermediate cable arranging member (17) is laid on the flexible flat cable (13) so that the intermediate cable arranging member (17) and the flexible flat cable (13) are in the same plane and form an angle. The other ends (21) of the branch conductors (19) of the intermediate cable arranging member (17) are connected to the respective rectangular conductors (11).

A termination unit (144) for use with a system that permits the monitoring of a computer network to perform network inventories. The termination unit takes the form of a cap that engages the termination face of a network jack and has a sensing circuit (246) integrated therewith so that, once engaged with the jack, the sensing circuit is connected to two terminals of the jack. The sensing circuit may include a resistor, capacitor or inductor, any of which provide a known sensing value that is different than a sensed value of an end-user device used on the network, but less than infinity so that the system senses when an end-user device is connected to or disconnected from the network.

A printed circuit terminal device for coupling a terminal array (e.g. on a plasma display panel) having very fine pitch : with lead lines from a circuit portion (71,72) includes a flexible printed circuit board (22) having a terminal array pattern (23) which corresponds to the terminal array and wiring patterns (710,720) which extend alternately from opposite sides of the terminal array pattern (23) so that the pitch of the wiring patterns (710,720) is twice that of the pitch of the terminal array pattern (23). This allows the circuit portion (71,72) to be coupled easily and reliably to the terminal array having very fine pitch and the formation of the wiring patterns (710,720) can be performed easily and results in an arrangement of very small size. The flexible printed circuit board (22) can be manufactured at low cost and the yield can be increased. Also, circuit elements such as resistors (25) can be mounted on the wiring patterns (710,720) without changing the wiring pitch.
