Abstract: A method is disclosed of producing polytetrahydrofurane or polytetrahydrofurane monoesters of C1-C10 monocarboxylic acids by polymerisation of tetrahydrofurane on a heterogenous catalyst in the presence of one of the following telogens: water, 1.4-butane diol, polytetrahydrofurane with a molecular weight of 200-700 Da, a C1-C10 monocarboxylic acid, or mixtures of these telogens. The catalyst used is a carrier catalyst which contains a catalytically active quantity of an oxygen-containing tungsten or molybdenum compound or mixtures of such compounds on an oxide carrier material and has undergone calcination at temperatures of 500-1000 DEG C after the precursors of the oxygen-containing molybdenum and/or tungsten compounds have been deposited on the carrier material precursor.

Abstract: The preparation of pyrrole derivatives (I) comprises catalytic dehydrogenation of pyrrolidines (II) at 150-300 degrees C and 0.01-50 bar on a catalyst comprising: (1) a composite (30-100 wt.%) comprising either (i) palladium on a rare earth or Group IVB metal oxide or (ii) platinum and palladium on alumina or a rare earth or Group IVB metal oxide; and (2) alkali(ne earth) metal oxide (0-70 wt.%). The preparation of pyrrole derivatives of formula (I) comprises catalytic dehydrogenation of pyrrolidines of formula (II) a 150-300 degrees C and 0.01-50 bar on a catalyst comprising: (1) a composite (30-100 wt.%) comprising either (i) palladium on a rare earth or Group IVB metal oxide or (ii) platinum and palladium on alumina or a rare earth or Group IVB metal oxide; and (2) alkali(ne earth) metal oxide (0-70 wt.%). R -R = H, 1-12C alkyl or 3-12C cycloalkyl.

Abstract: Cobalt catalysts (I) are claimed, in which the active material contains 55-98 wt% Co, 0.2-15 wt% P, 0.2-15 wt% Mn and 0.05-5 wt% alkali metal, calcd. as oxide. The calcined catalyst is reduced in a stream of hydrogen at final temps. of 200-400 degrees C and then surface-oxidised in a stream of air at final temps. of 20-60 degrees C. Also claimed is a process for the hydrogenation of organic nitriles and/or imines at 60-150 degrees C and 50-300 bar using (I) as catalyst.
