Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing a Cynomorium songaricum extract for preventing and treating neurodegenerative diseases is provided to be used as a pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food without side effects. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating neurodegenerative diseases contains a Cynomorium songaricum extract as an active ingredient. The extract promotes differentiation and proliferation of neuroblast. The neurodegenerative diseases are selected from the group consisting of senile dementia, Alzheimer`s diseases, and Parkinson`s disease. The extract is prepared using a solvent selected from the group consisting of water, C1-C5 alcohols, and a mixture thereof. A food composition for preventing and treating neurodegenerative diseases contains the extract as an active ingredient. Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing Codonopsis lanceolat extract is provided to suppress neuron apoptosis and glial cell activity and to effectively prevent neural injury. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating ischemic cerebral diseases contains Codonopsis lanceolat extract as an active ingredient. The diseases include cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, senile dementia, Alzheimer disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington disease, or thromboembolism. The extract is isolated using water, alcohol of 1-5 carbon atoms or mixture thereof. A food composition for preventing or treating the diseases contains the extract as an active ingredient.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A functional food for promoting differentiation of neutral stem cell containing platycodon root extract as an active ingredient is provided to suppress the reduction of differentiation of proliferation of neutral stem cells caused by aging and to promote differentiation of proliferation of neutral stem cells. CONSTITUTION: A functional food comprises platycodon root extract as an active ingredient to promote differentiation of proliferation of neutral stem cells. The nerve stem cells are derivated from dentate gyrus subgranular zone of hippocampus. The differentiation of the stem cell comprises the production of stem cells, fission, differentiation and movement. The platycodon root extract is obtained by cutting the dried platycodon root; extracting it at 20-150deg.C through enfleurage extraction, hot water extraction, ultrasonic extraction, and extraction under reflux condensation.
