The present invention relates to a composition for improving, treating or preventing neurodegenerative disease containing an oenanthe javanica extract as an active ingredient wherein the composition of the present invention increases the proliferation and differentiation of endogenous neural stem cells, which efficiently induces the regeneration of neuron cells and accordingly treats, improves or prevents neurodegenerative disease caused by neuron cells damaged by aging or brain diseases and functional problems like memory loss and cognitive dysfunction. In the present invention, the composition uses natural substances whose safety is recognized and which have little possibility of generating side effects, so the composition can be widely used for treating, improving or preventing neurodegenerative disease.

The present invention relates to a composition for alleviating, treating, or preventing degenerative brain disease containing vanillin as an active ingredient. The composition of the present invention significantly increases proliferation and differentiation of endogenous neural stem cells, significantly enhances inhibition of proliferation and differentiation of endogenous neural stem cells, and induces regeneration of neural stem cells. Thus, the present invention alleviates or treats decrease phenomenon of regeneration of neural stem cells caused by memory impairment disease and aging, and may be used as a composition for alleviating or treating degenerative brain disease without side effects by achieving stability.
