Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is lower alkyl; R -R are each H or lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:1-Hydroxy-3-[4-(2-methoxyl-2,4,4-trimethyl-2,3-dihydro-7- benzopyranyloxy)phenyl]urea. USE:An intermediate for synthesizing urea compounds useful as herbicides. PREPARATION:The objective compound of the formula I can be obtained by reaction at 0-50 deg.C for 0.1-20hr between a phenyl isocyanate derivative of formula II and hydroxylamine in a solvent such as water-toluene. The amounts of the hydroxylamine and solvent to be used are such as to be 0.5-10 molar times and 1-50 weight times, each based on the compound of the formula II, respectively.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain in an economically advantageous manner the title compound useful as a herbicide using reaction agents with no problems in terms of handling by lower alkylation of a 1-hydroxy-3-phenylurea derivative. CONSTITUTION:The objective 1-alkoxy-1-alkyl-3-[4-(2-alkoxy-2,3-dihydro-7- benzopyranyloxy)phenyl]urea derivative of formula II can be obtained by reaction of a compound of formula I (R is lower alkyl; R to R are each H or lower alkyl) at -10 to 100 deg.C in the presence of a base (e.g. NaOH) using a sulfuric ester of formula R OSO2OR (R is lower alkyl) or a haloalkyl of formula R -X (X is halogen) in a solvent such as toluene pref. in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst (e.g. benzyltriethyl ammonium chloride).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate raw material for the production of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, etc., in high yield by using sodium salt of a halophenol which is one of the most inexpensive industrial raw material and reacting the salt with hydroxylamine-O-sulfonic acid under specific condition. CONSTITUTION:The objective halophenoxyamine of formula II (e.g., 3,5- dichlorophenoxyamine) can be produced in high yield at a low cost by adding 0.5-10mol/l aqueous solution of hydroxylamine-O-sulfonic acid to 2-8mol/l aqueous solution of a halophenol sodium slat of formula I (X is halogen; n is 1-3) under heating and reacting the components with each other. The amount of the hydroxylamine-O-sulfonic acid is 0.1-0.4mol per 1mol of the halophenol sodium salt.

The amounts of the phosgene, base and solvent to be used are such as to be 1-2 molar times, 0.75-5 molar times and 1-50 weight times, each based on the compound of the formula II, respectively.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress side reaction and obtain aminoketones useful as medicines, etc., in good yield in a short time, by reacting alpha-halogenated ketones with amines under specific condition. CONSTITUTION:alpha-Halogenated ketones expressed by formula I (X is Cl, Br or I; Y is H, halogen, nitro or OH; R is H or lower alkyl) are dissolved in a mixed solvent of water-alcohol at a volume ratio of the water to alcohol within the range of 0.1-4:1 to provide a solution (A) in 0.1-2mol./l concentration. Amines expressed by the formula R -NH2 (R is lower alkyl) are dissolved in a mixed solvent of water-alcohol to afford a solution (B) in 0.5-10mol./l concentration. The solution (A) is then added to the solution (B) so as to provide 2.5-15 molar ratio of the amines to the alpha-halogenated ketones and the solution mixture is reacted for 5-240min to afford the aimed substance expressed by formula II. The reaction solvent is preferably a mixed solvent at a volume ratio of the water to the alcohol within the range of 0.1-4:1.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain aminoketones useful for producing medicines as succinates in a relatively high recovery ratio and high purity by simple operation, by neutralizing the aminoketones with a mineral acid in the presence of water from a mixed system of the aminoketones and amines. CONSTITUTION:Aminoketones expressed by the formula (Y is H, halogen, nitro or OH; R is H or lower alkyl; R is lower alkyl) are isolated as succinates from a mixed system of existing 1mol. aminoketones and 1-15mol., preferably 3-9mol. amines expressed by the formula R -NH2. In this process, 40-100%, preferably 70-95% free amines present in the mixed system is neutralized in the presence of water using a mineral acid (e.g. hydrochloric acid or hydrobomic acid).

The compound can be used as a component of an olefin polymerization catalyst, and this catalyst is prepared by combining the compound with an organoaluminumoxy compound and/or a compound which reacts with this compound to form an ionic pair and optionally an organoaluminum compound.
