    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the durability of the title pump by connecting porous electrodes extending along the inside and outside of a partition wall heating zone heated to a specified temp. or above to lead wires outside the zone to prevent exfoliation of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:O2-contg. feed gas 11 is fed into cylindrical solid electrolyte partition wall 1 through flow meter 10. Since the interior of heating zone 15 is being heated to 400 deg.C or above with heater 13, and a DC voltage is being applied between porous electrodes 2, 3, each O2 molecule entering zone 15 accepts an electron on cathode 2 and becomes O2 , which diffuses into wall 1, reaches anode 3, and returns to each O2 molecule by emitting the electron, and the molecule is released into the air. By repeating this reaction O2 in gas 11 is carried from the system through wall 1, and electrons flow through lead wires 4, 5 via connected portions 6, 7 of electrodes 2, 3 and wires 5, 6. Portions 6, 7 are outside zone 15, so abnormal heat due to heater 13 and the high current density is not applied to portions 6, 7 to prevent exfoliation of electrodes 2, 3 from wall 1 at portions 6, 7.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain high quality while achieving measurement in a short time with high precision, by reducing the capacity of a generation space for reference gas by stacking diaphragms of plane electrolyte and by interposing a prescribed conductive substance between the stacked surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm 1 which has electrodes 5 and 6 on both plate surfaces of a plane solid electrolyte and a diaphragm 2 which has electrodes 7 and 8 on both plate surfaces of a plane solid electrolyte having a fine through hole 3 in the thickness direction are so stacked that the plate surfaces face mutually; and annular conductive foil 4 is interposed between their stacked surfaces to joint both the diaphragms 1 and 2 in one body with the conductive foil 4. Then, a DC current with a prescribed value is flowed between the electrodes 7 and 8 to substitute a small-capacity space 9 with reference gas. In this state, gas to be measured is brought into contact with the electrode 5 to generate electromotive force between the electrodes 5 and 6. This electromotive force is measured to obtained the oxygen concentration of the measured gas.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect abnormal oxygen density with high precision by detecting the variation rate of a partial oxygen pressure by a detector after equalizing the partial oxygen pressure of detected gas to that of reference one by forming a short circuit between electrodes provided to both internal and external sides of a partition wall of a solid-state electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Porous electrodes 5 and 6 are provided on external and internal surfaces of partition wall 1 of a solid-state electrolyte to form an oxygen concentration cell and reference gas 4 is sealed in airtight container formed of partition wall 1. Then, while the external surface of container 3 is exposed to detected gas, switch 13 of short circuit 8 for electrodes 5 and 6 is closed and it is confirmed that reference gas 4 becomes equal in partial oxygen pressure to the detected gas. Then, switch 13 is opened to make a comparison the variation in partial oxygen pressure of the detected gas and a set value by detection circuit 9 and when it exceeds the set value, alarm circuit 17 is put into operation. Therefore, the oxygen concentration cell never generates electromotive force until the oxygen density of the detected gas varies, so that detection precision can be improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To preserve for a long time the initial performance of oxygen sensor making use of oxygen concentration cell of solid electrolytic material, by maintaining the electric current which flows in the external circuit during measuring due to an electromotive force under a predetermined level. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical solid electrolytic tube 6 having a U-shaped cross- section and closed at its one end is charged with a reference gas 9 the oxygen concentration of which is known. The other end of the tube 6 is closed by a tabular sealing member 4 to form a closed container. The object gas is made to contact the outer surface of the container 8 so that an electromotive force is generated between porous electrodes 1, 2 disposed inside and outside the solid electrolytic tube 6. The electromotive force is detected by an external circuit 7 through lead wires 5, 3. The value of the electric current flowing in the external circuit 7 is limited to be smaller than 1nA per 1cm of the reference gas. The inside volume of the closed container 8 preferably falls between 0.001 and 10cm .
