Abstract:
A stretching device that enables a user to employ the mechanical advantage of a multi-pulley system while performing various, prolonged muscle stretches; the stretching device including a first anchor assembly, a second anchor assembly, and a motion transfer line. The first motion transfer line has a first anchor body and a first motion transfer pulley; the first anchor body being attached to the user and the first motion transfer pulley being coupled to the first anchor body. Similarly, the second motion transfer line has a second anchor body and a second motion transfer pulley; the second anchor body being attached to a stationary object and the second motion transfer pulley being coupled to the second anchor body. The motion transfer line is terminally attached to the first anchor body and is trained around both the first motion transfer pulley and the second motion transfer pulley.
Abstract:
A dynamic cushion heel-ankle-foot orthosis system is configured to provide controlled tibial progression in a human user. The dynamic cushion heel-ankle-foot orthosis system includes a leg calf shell further comprising a leg calf shell plantar flexion ridge at a lowermost point. A boot shell is rotatably connected to the leg calf shell and further comprising a boot shell plantar flexion ridge at an uppermost point. The boot shell plantar flexion ridge contacts the leg calf shell plantar flexion ridge at a plantar flexion ridges region and rotates no further.
Abstract:
A massage device having a body with two end sections attached to a center section. The center section of the body has a motor and a heating unit, and each end section has an eccentric weight that are connected to the motor such that vibrations generated by the motor are transferred to each eccentric weight. The massage device also has a control mechanism configured to adjust the vibration of the massage device, and a microcontroller connected to the control mechanism and the motor to control the operation of the motor. A storage unit for storing a message device is capable of sanitizing, heating, and charging the message device.
Abstract:
A stowable sensory learning assembly configured to provide a multi-sensory stimulation work space for people with sensory disorders and various learning disabilities that can be efficiently stowed when not in use and efficiently and rapidly deployed when needed. The stowable sensory learning assembly includes a horizontal base connected to a vertical housing and a canopy housing, display housing, and desk housing. The display housing and desk housing are movable relative to the canopy housing between a stowed position where the desk housing and display housing are substantially parallel to the canopy housing, and a deployed position where the display housing and the desk housing are angled relative to one another to define a work space.
Abstract:
The invention is a method consisting of stimulation of specific new acupuncture points to prevent, detect, treat and heal specific types of neoplastic process in humans. The specific acupuncture points used in the method of the invention have not been previously disclosed for the treatment of neoplastic processes. The treatments can be carried out by accredited practitioners in a clinical setting or by the patient her/himself at home. The stimulation can be provided by any of the known techniques used for stimulation of controlling points, including, but not limited to, traditional acupuncture needles, auto-injector needles, electric acupuncture, acupressure, lasers, acupuncture lasers, UV radiation, infra-red radiation, heat, magnets, moxibustion, and a combination of two or more of these techniques, for example, the use of both needles and laser acupuncture simultaneously in a single treatment session. The method of the invention is also used for detection and prevention of neoplastic process.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an adjustable bed handheld remote control that may include a handheld housing, a touch sensor on a front face of the handheld housing, a transmitter and the like. The touch sensor may be presented in a slider form and may be adapted to facilitate a user in adjusting a frame position of an adjustable bed. The transmitter may be electrically coupled to a processor and may receive input from the touch sensor, for communication control signals to the adjustable bed in accordance with the input received from the touch sensor.
Abstract:
A method and system enabling delivery of a therapy type is provided. The method includes receiving a value of a parameter measured by physical sensors while a mammal is in contact with a first subset of the physical sensors. A second subset of the physical sensors, whose received value differs from a predetermined reference value of an environmental parameter, is determined. A physical part subset of the second subset, corresponding to a specified body part, is determined by utilizing the second subset and virtual data for identifying virtual sensors spatially distributed to map a space occupied by the mammal's body parts. In response, a therapy device positioned in sufficiently close proximity to the specified body part to effectively deliver the specified therapy type to the specified body part, is determined and a control signal is generated and transmitted to the associated therapy device.
Abstract:
An apparatus for facilitating passenger exercise may comprise one or more pedals provided arranged to be operated by a passenger of a vehicle and allow the passenger to exert pressure on the pedal, while occupying a passenger seat of the vehicle. A compression unit coupled to the at least one pedal to receive the exerted pressure on the at least one pedal. The compression unit may function in at least one of a passive mode or an active mode. The apparatus may further comprise one or more handles operable by a passenger of a vehicle to exercise, and configured to allow the passenger to pool the one more handles, while occupying a seat of the vehicle. A string may be coupled to the one or more handles, and may be applicable to receive a force resulting from pooling the handle. A pulley may be operable to receive the string.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a manual CPR device, also known as a CPR derrick, includes a frame that is put close to a patient who is on the ground. The device also includes a piston that can be moved up and down, and is aligned to be over the patient's chest. The device also has an actuator that the rescuer can operate manually so as to move the piston up and down, which will deliver compressions to the patient's chest. A bottom stop prevents the compressions from being too deep. In some embodiments, proper dimensioning of the CPR derrick permits the rescuer to perform CPR chest compressions while standing up, i.e. without kneeling. The rescuer may be able to perform higher quality CPR, and for a longer time, giving more opportunity to a life-saving team to arrive in time.
