Abstract: A fuel additive which comprises an amide compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 hydrocarbon group, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 each are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 hydrocarbon group and a group of formula (II), provided that at least one of R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 group of formula (II) R.sup.6 is a C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene group, R.sup.7 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylene group, a is an integer of 1-100, b is an integer of 0-100, the sum of a and b being equal to 1-200, c is an integer of 1-3, d is an integer of 0-2, the sum of c and d being equal to 3, and X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.30 hydrocarbon group, a group of formula (III), and a group of formula (IV), wherein formulas (II), (III) and (IV) are defined in the disclosure.

Abstract: The invention provides reaction products of: (A) an acylating reagent, with (D) a polyalkenyl derivative of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic reagent (C), and (E) a polyamine containing at least two --NH.sub.2 and/or --NH groups, or with (F) the pre-formed product of reagents (D) and (E), wherein the acylating reagent (A) is the reaction product of (B) a C.sub.4 -C.sub.20 polyene or oligomer prepared therefrom, and (C) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic reagent; lubricating oil compositions, fuel compositions and additive concentrates containing them; and use of the reaction products as dispersant additives.

Abstract: A novel nonacidic fuel additive which is soluable in gasoline, diesel fuels and other liquid aliphatic hydrocarbons, and which comprises the product produced by mixing ketone peroxides, ketones, a Group III metal, an alcohol, and borontrifloride, or liquid cobalt, or a chlorobenzine. The fuel additive further comprises a ketone solvent, said ketones preferrably being methyl ethyl ketones and their peroxides and solvents. The fuel additive of the present invention, serves to increase power output, lower the ignition point of the carrier fuel, increase mileage, and, especially when used with diesel, reduces the effect of cold temperatures on the viscosity, turbidity, and color of the diesel fuel to temperatures as severe as -40.degree. C.
