Abstract: Methods and systems for optimizing bandwidth utilization in an in-home network may comprise determining usage and/or quality of communication links operating in accordance with first and second communication protocols in a multi-protocol wired and wireless network. Data communication may be routed from a first communication link operating in accordance with the first communication protocol to a second communication link operating in accordance with the second communication protocol, based on the determining. The first communication protocol may comprise a multimedia over cable alliance (MoCA) standard and the second communication protocol may comprise an IEEE 802.11x standard. The determining and routing may be performed by a MoCA network controller. The first communication protocol may comprise an IEEE 802.11x standard and the second communication protocol may comprise a MoCA standard. The rerouting may increase bandwidth usage efficiency and/or data throughput of the network. The determining and rerouting may be performed dynamically.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for dynamic power switching in current-steering digital-to-analog converters (DACs). A DAC circuit may be configured to apply digital-to-analog conversions based on current steering, and to particularly incorporate use of dynamic power switching during conversions. The DAC circuit may comprise a main section, which may connect a main supply voltage to a main current source. The main section may comprise a positive-side branch and a negative-side branch, which may be configured to steer positive-side and negative-side currents, such as in a differential manner, to effectuate the conversions. The dynamic power switching may be applied, for example, via a secondary section connecting a main current source in the DAC circuit to a secondary supply voltage. The secondary supply voltage may be configured such that it may be less than the main supply voltage used in driving the current steering in the DAC circuit.

Abstract: Methods and systems for multi-path video and network channels may comprise a communication device comprising a wideband tuner (WB) and a narrowband tuner (NB). A video channel and a network channel may be received in the WB when the device is operating in a first stage. A video channel and a network channel may be received in the WB and the network channel may also be received in the NB when the device is operating in a second stage. The network channel may be received in the NB when the device is operating in a third stage. The reception of the network channel from both the WB and NB may enable a continuous reception of the network channel in a transition between the first and third stages. The WB may be operable to receive a plurality of channels and the NB may be operable to receive a single channel.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for adaptive guard interval (GI) combining. When a signal carrying at least one symbol that is preceded by a guard interval that comprises a portion of the symbol is received, a portion of the guard interval that is free from inter-symbol interference (ISI) may be determined, and only a part of the ISI-free portion of the guard interval may be extracted. The part of the ISI-free portion of the guard interval may be selected based on timing adjustment, relative to start of the symbol, that is applied to a function used in extracting the symbol. The extracted part of the ISI-free portion of the guard interval may then be combined with a corresponding portion of the symbol. The extracting and/or combining may be performed after a determination that a delay spread is smaller than a predetermined channel delay.

A first set of metal fingers in a first metal layer may be electrically coupled to a set of metal fingers in a second metal layer.

Abstract: A network device coupled to a network may be operable to receive an indication from the network that media access control (MAC) management messages will be transmitted by the network at fixed intervals. Subsequent to receiving the indication, the network device may be operable to power down one or more components of the network device and set a sleep timer to a value equal to an integer multiple of the fixed interval minus a transition period. The network device may power up the one or more components of the network device upon expiration of the sleep timer. The network device may power up the one or more components of the network device upon an amount of traffic in a buffer of the network device reaching a threshold.

The LNA may be operable to receive signals in a pass band of the high pass filter and a pass band of the low pass filter. The receiver may be operable to amplify input signals in the pass band of a first filter but not signals in the pass band of the second filter by operably coupling the second to ground.
