Abstract:
A personal massage apparatus includes a personal massager and can also include a controller for controlling the operation of the massager. The massager includes a motor or other motion-causing device and can also include an interface (e.g., a wireless interface) to the controller (where such a controller is included). The controller is a remote control that can include a motion sensor (e.g., an accelerometer) for detecting motion of the controller (e.g., changes in orientation). The massager can also have a motion sensor for detecting motion of the massager. Circuitry in the controller and/or massager converts the detected motion of the controller or massager into control signals for the controller or massager. The operation of the controller or massager (e.g., the output motor power, a vibration pattern, or another massage setting) is adjusted based on the detected motion of the controller or massager.
Abstract:
Intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) devices facilitate fluid circulation in a body by providing alternating higher pressure and a lower or no pressure in an associated inflatable cuff. A source of air at a pressure less than 130% of the higher pressure at the inflatable cuff communicates to the inflatable cuff through a large-cross-section, continuously-open passageway. A large vent valve on that passageway opens for a lower or no pressure condition and closes to achieve a higher pressure within 0.1 second. For the lower or no pressure state, the vent valve not only vents the inflatable cuff, but also vents continuing air flow from the source of air pressure, until the next rapid pressure rise. The periods between successive compressions are from 2 to 10 seconds, with compressions from 0.35 to 5 seconds. While most of the inflatable cuff is not transparent, portions adjacent the heel and toes are.

Each shaft module includes a body having a second connection half at one end and a first connection half at an opposite end. There is a head module having a body having a second connection half at one end. Each of the first connection halves are configured to be releasably connectable with any second connection half.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for adjusting a clamping force of a fixing portion of a walking assistance apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus and method may measure pressures at two points positioned between a fixing portion and a body of a user, calculate a clamping force of the fixing portion based on the pressures, and control the fixing portion to output the clamping force of the fixing portion.

Abstract:
A system having preclinical emergency care modules which produce a complex condition dependent control system that is as integral as possible in combination with a human emergency worker. At the system level, an intelligent decision-making system is provided which leads to measures that are optimized for the situation with and without the emergency worker. The modules exhibit a different behavior depending on the situation and interaction. In the process, the emergency worker can be utilized as an additional sensor/actuator module. Based on all obtained sensor data, which is weighted differently, decision-making support is proposed to the emergency worker, or the system makes decisions automatically. The protected communication of the modules is of particular importance for this purpose.
Abstract:
A system and method for use during the administration of CPR chest compressions and defibrillating shock on a cardiac arrest victim. The system analyzes compression waveforms from a compression depth monitor to determine the source of chest compressions, and enables the delivery of defibrillating shock during a compression cycle if the compression waveforms are characteristic of an automated CPR chest compression device.

In some examples, a device includes a case having an engaging surface configured to conform to a surface of a bladder, a passage extending from an opening on the case to another opening on the case, the passage configured to receive a securing member, a vibration generator coupled to the case and configured to generate a vibration, and a power receiver coupled to the case, the power receiver having a receiving coil and configured to receive electrical energy from a remote source.
Abstract:
A skin and scalp massaging apparatus using acoustic pressure. A vibration member generates vibration using acoustic pressure induced when a sound source is generated. A vibration probe is coupled to the vibration member to receive vibration. The vibration probe has a detachably provided head having various purposes. The head is provided to massage skin or scalp. The vibration probe is coupled to a cone paper damper for generating vibration through a connection member to which the vibration member is coupled. The vibration probe is coupled to the cone paper damper of the vibration member, so that vibration is directly received, and thus, the vibration efficiency can be improved. Further, the head for the skin massage or the scalp massage is detachably provided on the vibration probe, and thus, can be used for various purposes of, for example, massaging skin, scalp, or the like.
