Abstract:
An inductor and carrier suitable for mounting on a mounting substrate includes an etched sheet of a bonded copper layer and polyimide film to form a film carrier. The periphery of the film carrier is patterned with a plurality of windows and a plurality of conductors, each conductor having a bent-up tab and and end portion terminating at the periphery within the respective window. A microminiature inductor core having a plurality of insulated windings is soldered to the respective bent-up tab of each conductor and the end portion of each conductor is then welded to bonding pads on the mounting substrate.

A surface mounting type connector has a connector plug on its front and has a connector housing from which connector pins project at the rear. The connector pin holder is placed at the rear of the connector housing, and has through holes formed therein. Each of these through holes in positioned corresponding to one of the connector pins. On the inner surfaces of the through holes, through-hole conductors are formed. On one or both main planes of the connector pin holder, conductive patterns are connected to each of the through-hole conductors. Each of the tips of the connector pins is inserted into one of the through holes in the connector pin holder, and these tips of the connector pins are connected to the corresponding conductive patterns via the through-hole conductors. The connector housing is mounted onto the circuit board with its bottom plane on the circuit board, and the conductive patterns on the connector pin holder are connected to correspond with circuit patterns that are formed on the surface of the circuit board.

A chip carrier including a connecting strip is supported by a thermally conductive spacer block under its center, which provides a mechanical connection to a circuit board. The external contact pads on the underside of the chip carrier are not bonded directly to traces on the board, but instead are bonded to the connecting strip which is formed from a polymer layer having conductive traces thereon. The conductive traces may be bonded to traces on the circuit board.

A magnetic bubble memory module containing a magnetic bubble memory device and its analog peripheral circuits mounted on a substrate, having outer input/output lead terminals, allowing the module to be mounted on a conventional printed circuit board instantaneously with other electronic elements. Lead terminals of the magnetic bubble memory device are protected by a protection means of an insulator such as plastic material, so that the magnetic bubble memory device is protected from the electrostatic discharge damage caused by the touching of a charged body such as human fingers. This results in high reliability and high production yield of the magnetic bubble memory apparatus.
Abstract:
A device for mounting a liquid crystal display (LCD) to a circuit board without requiring bolts, screws or auxiliary pieces, comprises a holder positioned between the LCD and circuit board and a cover member positioned around the LCD and holder. The cover member is formed with end clips that snap fit around opposite sides of the circuit board to retain the lower surface of the holder in contact with the board. Opposite sides of the holder are formed with through channels containing Zebra elastomeric strips for establishing electrical connections between the circuit board and the LCD. The LCD is retained within the mounting device by resilient members formed on the cover member and holder and maintained in contact with the LCD.

A host device includes surface mount conductive pads on a printed circuit board (PCB) for external peripheral communications. Conductive ink is printed on the conductive pads with a base member is printed over the conductive ink. Three-dimensional (3D) conductive wires are printed on the base member and extend along a housing to a new external port. Conductive ink is printed with a second base member and terminating ends of the wires are printed on the front of the base member establishing the new peripheral port for the host device. A peripheral device includes its own surface mount conductive pads which when aligned and brought into contact with the external port of the host device permits the host device and the peripheral device to establish a wired connection with one another without cables, without cable harnesses, and without port connectors.
