The invention provides fuel mixtures containing biodiesel oil, glycerol, glycerol soluble compounds, surfactants and additives. The fuel mixtures are uniform, remain suspended in solution, and are resistant to phase separation. Upon combustion, the mixtures generate reduced CO, CO2, SOx, NOx and particulate matter emissions compared to petroleum fuels and offer improved engine performance over petroleum and water mixtures.

The present disclosure relates to novel anti-wear additives for diesel or biodiesel fuels having a sulphur content less than or equal to 500 ppm by mass. These novel additives will also improve the lacquering resistance of the higher-grade diesel or biodiesel fuels having a sulphur content less than or equal to 500 ppm by mass.

Biofuels can be produced via an organic phase hydrocatalytic treatment of biomass using an organic solvent that is partially miscible with water. An organic hydrocarbon-rich phase from the hydrocatalytically treated products can be recycled to form at least a portion of the organic phase.

Described herein are modified fuels with improved properties. The modified fuels are more efficient when compared to conventional fuels such as gasoline.
