Abstract: Color calibration of color image rendering devices, such as large color displays, which operate by either projection or emission of images, utilize internal color measurement instrument or external color measurement modules locatable on a wall or speaker. A dual use camera is provided for a portable or laptop computer, or a cellular phone, handset, personal digital assistant or other handheld device with a digital camera, in which one of the camera or a display is movable with respect to the other to enable the camera in a first mode to capture images of the display for enabling calibration of the display, and in a second mode for capturing image other than of the display. The displays may represent rendering devices for enabling virtual proofing in a network, or may be part of stand-alone systems and apparatuses for color calibration. Improved calibration is also provided for sensing and correcting for non-uniformities of rendering devices, such as color displays, printer, presses, or other color image rendering device.

Abstract: A photoelectric sensor is configured to detect an object by reception of light from a light projecting unit in a light receiving unit. The photoelectric sensor differentiates a sampled light reception amount with respect to time to calculate a variation in the light reception amount per unit time, and sets as a threshold a light reception amount corresponding to an extreme value of the variation in the light reception amount. In this manner, the threshold is set with the variation in the light reception amount per unit time taken into account, thereby enhancing the accuracy in detection of the object by comparison between the light reception amount and the threshold, to allow minimization of jitter of a detection signal from the photoelectric sensor to a programmable logic controller.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a heads up display, comprising: a projector, which is configured to project light to a preset region to form a projected image; an environment color acquisition device, which is configured to acquire an environment color of a background region corresponding to the preset region, wherein the background region is an external region observable through the preset region from an observer's position; and a controller, comprising a color control unit, the color control unit being configured to control a color of light projected by the projector according to the environment color, such that a color of the projected image and the environment color are distinguished from each other. Accordingly, the present disclosure further provides a heads up display method and a traveling apparatus. The present disclosure can enable a driver to always see displayed image clearly in various environments.

Abstract: The present concept is a compact portable colour sensor for measuring colour of a substrate. The sensor includes a lower housing including an interior, the lower housing for cooperatively mating together with a upper housing, a detector portion including a printed circuit board rigidly connected to an interior of the lower housing and substantially enveloped by the upper and lower housings when in a mated position The printed circuit board includes at least one LED and one colour sensor mounted on a bottom side of the printed circuit board, and at least one transparent light transmitting light pipe and a transparent lens is mounted interferingly between the bottom side of the printed circuit board and the interior of the lower housing, and wherein the compact portable colour sensor is configured such that light transmitted by the LED impinges upon the substrate and is at least partially reflected back to the colour sensor to take a measurement. Preferably wherein the lower housing has an inverted truncated conical shape and the upper housing has an upright truncated conical shape.

Abstract: The multispectral detection device comprises first and second photodetectors sensitive to two different wavelengths. The two photodetectors are connected to two integration capacitors of two different readout circuits. Two reset circuits are configured so as to initialise the two integration capacitors separately. A first synchronisation circuit is connected to the first readout circuit and to the synchronisation signal and clock signal generators. The first synchronisation circuit is configured in such a way as to define the frame by detection of a leading edge of the synchronisation signal, count the number of occurrences of a trailing edge of the clock signal, initiate or terminate a data acquisition phase when the number of occurrences of trailing edges is equal to a threshold value recorded in a register of the first synchronisation circuit.

Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and method for checking the integrity of visual display information and has particular application to checking images displayed in an automotive vehicle, such images containing safety critical information. The image intensity is checked only to an extent commensurate with a human being able to interpret its correct meaning. Hence, images which are defective in some way yet still recognisable by the human eye are not classified as failures. In one embodiment, a part of the image containing safety critical information is segmented into smaller areas and the luminance of pixels in each segmented area is compared with a threshold brightness level and a threshold darkness level. A histogram for each area is generated and compared with a reference.
