Abstract: A light detecting device includes: a filter array including filters two-dimensionally arrayed and an image sensor including light detection elements. Each of first and second filters included in the filters includes a first reflective layer, a second reflective layer, and an intermediate layer therebetween and has a resonance structure having resonant modes whose orders are different from each other. A refractive index and/or a thickness of the intermediate layer in the first and second filters is different depending on the filter. A transmission spectrum of each of the first and second filters has local maximum value of transmittance at each of wavelengths included in a wavelength region, and the wavelengths correspond to the resonant modes, respectively. The image sensor is disposed at a position where the image senor receives passing light that passes through the filter array, to detect components in the wavelengths included in the passing light.

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring time-resolved optical spectrum includes a light source, a sensor for collecting, forming, manipulating and measuring the intensity of the optical radiation, and a controller coupled to the light source and sensor. The sensor includes at least one optical delay element to provide a time delay to a first portion of the optical radiation. The sensor arrangement further includes an optical spectral disperser to split the delayed first portion and the second portion of the optical radiation into dispersed radiation having a plurality of wavelengths, and a sensor element configured to receive each wavelength of the dispersed radiation on a different spatial region, and measure the light intensity associated with each wavelength of the dispersed radiation. The controller collects the light intensity associated with each wavelength of the dispersed radiation measured by the sensor element to form a time-resolved optical spectrum.

By fitting two elements having a two-dimensional step structure, a Fabry-Perot cavity array having a three-dimensional step structure is formed, and it is simple in structure and easy to be processed and implemented.

Abstract: In an illustrative configuration, a method for monitoring air quality is disclosed. The method includes accepting analyte gas into a cell and reflecting light rays into the analyte gas repeatedly across the cell into at least one sensor. The light scattered by particulate matter in the analyte gas and amount of spectra-absorption due to presence of a gaseous chemical is then measured. Based on the determined amount of spectra-absorption and the measured scattered light the gaseous chemical is then measured.

Abstract: A method for calibrating an image sensor begins by illuminating a portion of the image sensor with an input light spectrum, where the input light spectrum includes light of known wavelength and intensity. The method continues by sampling an output for each optical sensor of the image sensor, where each optical sensor is associated with one or more optical filters and where each optical filter being associated with a group of optical filters of a plurality of groups of optical filters. Each optical filter of a group of optical filters is configured to pass light in a different wavelength range and at least some optical filters in different groups of the plurality of groups of optical filters are configured to pass light in substantially a same wavelength range. The method then continues by comparing a sampled output for each optical sensor of the plurality of optical sensors with an expected output and generating a calibration factor for each of at least a subset of the plurality of optical sensors and storing the generated calibration factors in memory.
